With Republic Day and the auspicious occasions of Mauni Amavasya and Basant Panchami Amrit Snans approaching, CM Yogi has instructed officials to bolster crowd management and communication systems in the Mahakumbh Mela vicinity.

He underscored the necessity for strong security measures during the Amrit Snan on Mauni Amavasya and Basant Panchami.

The Chief Minister inspected the Mela grounds in Prayagraj on Sunday and subsequently convened a meeting with officials to outline crucial arrangements.

He stated, “To facilitate better crowd management on special occasions, traffic on the pontoon bridges should be regulated in a one-way system. The entire Mela area must be declared a no-vehicle zone on Mauni Amavasya and Basant Panchami. The feelings of the devotees should be honored, and officials must be proactive in assisting those in need.”

He mandated the timely completion of all essential preparations for these significant events.

The Chief Minister revealed that a state cabinet meeting is slated for January 22.

During the meeting held at the ICCC auditorium, he indicated that around 1.5 crore devotees are currently present at the fairgrounds, with over 7 crore people having already taken a holy dip at Triveni. He noted that the substantial turnout during Paush Purnima and Makar Sankranti was efficiently managed, leaving every visitor satisfied.

The Chief Minister projected that between 8 to 10 crore individuals are expected to attend on Mauni Amavasya, with significant crowds also anticipated on Republic Day. He reiterated the importance of comprehensive arrangements to ensure the convenience and safety of visitors.

He suggested establishing separate stations for regular and Mela Special Trains, as well as diverting or cancelling routine trains where possible.

He urged railway authorities to implement special arrangements from January 25 to February 5 with the utmost diligence, stressing the importance of timely announcements regarding train schedules and platform numbers to ensure consistency once assigned.

Railway officials informed the Chief Minister that more than 200 Mela Special Trains are planned for Mauni Amavasya. Additionally, he directed the Transport Corporation to increase the number of shuttle buses and ensure their continuous operation to accommodate the surge of devotees.
