Mumbai, Sep 24 (NationPress) Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde stated on Wednesday that during the ongoing crisis caused by severe rains and floods in Dharashiv district and other regions of the state, no individual will be left without assistance. He emphasized the importance of prioritizing help for those affected, urging against political maneuvering in such dire circumstances. “They need to be helped on a priority basis,” Shinde remarked.
In a show of solidarity, he declared that Shiv Sena ministers and legislators will donate their one month’s salary to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund, reaffirming the party's commitment to supporting farmers during natural disasters.
During his visit to the distressed villages in Paranda, Bhum, and Kalam tehsils of Dharashiv, Eknath Shinde remarked, “Affected villagers and farmers will be provided with temporary assistance soon.” He assured that aid would be dispensed through Panchnama, with relaxed terms for assistance. He stressed that no one should be deprived of aid, particularly in cases where soil has been completely eroded.
In Paranda tehsil, Shinde assessed the damage to farms in the Karanja village, where significant losses occurred due to the relentless rains. He noted that the Sina river overflowed, resulting in severe devastation to local households and agricultural lands, leaving many homes inundated with mud. “Today, I listened to the grievances of the villagers here and reassured them that the government stands firmly by their side,” he stated.
Accompanied by the guardian minister of Dharashiv, Shinde declared that the government's immediate focus is on relief and rescue efforts, promising that those displaced by the floods would be rehabilitated. “The affected people now need help and everyone should assist in their own way,” he urged.
“A natural disaster has struck, and we should exercise patience during such crises. The government will stand firmly with those affected, ensuring that aid is provided by both central and state authorities. After the Panchanama, further financial assistance will be determined based on the extent of the damage,” he added.
Nonetheless, Shinde and the Shiv Sena faced criticism for bringing aid to Dharashiv with party leaders' photos attached to the materials. Around 50 trucks filled with privately procured aid arrived in Dharashiv on Wednesday, displaying images of Deputy CM Eknath Shinde and the district's guardian minister Pratap Sarnaik.
