Pune, Aug 8 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, emphasized on Friday that meticulous planning, established timelines, transparency, quality benchmarks, and inter-departmental coordination are essential for the efficient execution of infrastructure development initiatives.

He highlighted that the prompt completion of infrastructure projects by all collaborating agencies is vital to reaching the government’s ambitious goal of a one trillion dollar economy.

Fadnavis spoke during the inauguration of the Infrastructure Development Project Training Workshop at the Yashwantrao Chavan Academy of Development Administration.

“The economy of the state is advancing towards the one-trillion-dollar milestone. To expedite this journey, infrastructure development projects are indispensable. Through proper advance planning, these projects can be executed on schedule while enhancing their quality and functionality. Maharashtra has a proven track record in completing numerous engineering projects, including roads, railways, bridges, and underground passages. Our experience in this field is substantial,” stated the Chief Minister.

He mentioned that tools like Gati Shakti and Geo Data are available for project execution. Various governmental departments possess relevant data, and ensuring seamless coordination among them is crucial for optimal utilization. Field inspections are essential for improved planning. Timely access to available information can accelerate development initiatives, he added.

“When selecting developers for projects, their capabilities must be taken into account. All essential provisions should be included in project contracts, prioritizing the state’s interests after thorough analysis. Upon nearing project completion, it is imperative to guarantee that the work meets high standards and is consistently monitored. To mitigate cost overruns associated with land acquisition, this process should be completed promptly, with compensation administered without delay. Project work should commence only after land acquisition is finalized,” he explained.

He further asserted that the government is focused on eliminating barriers to project execution. A “War Room” has been established to oversee and expedite critical projects, yielding positive outcomes. When state projects are completed on time and to a high standard, the implementing agencies also garner recognition and accolades. There are various financing avenues available, and leveraging these can facilitate more infrastructure projects,” he noted.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar remarked that infrastructure projects are a pivotal element in Maharashtra’s journey toward becoming a developed state, embodying the state’s vision and policy.

“A developed Maharashtra is a movement in itself, with infrastructure development at its core. Therefore, everyone must work efficiently to expedite the completion of roads, bridges, ports, power projects, river rejuvenation initiatives, and many other infrastructure ventures,” he added.

He indicated that the workshop was organized to address challenges hindering ongoing infrastructure development efforts in the state to facilitate faster project progression. Infrastructure initiatives are fundamental to Maharashtra’s economic and social advancement, he mentioned, adding that these projects will generate employment opportunities.

“Maharashtra has consistently served as a guiding light for the country, and by preserving this identity, the workshop will undoubtedly bolster the state’s capacity to execute infrastructure projects. This will foster the development of new skills and insights, marking a significant stride toward capacity building,” stated the Deputy Chief Minister.

Pravin Singh Pardeshi, CEO of MITRA, presented information regarding available funding for the state’s infrastructure development projects and emphasized the importance of timely fund allocation for swift project completion.

Chief Secretary Rajesh Kumar stressed the need to investigate the reasons behind delays in infrastructure project completion. A shift in mindset towards these projects is necessary, along with anticipating challenges during the planning phase. The “Developed Maharashtra 2047 Vision” can only be realized through innovative approaches in the infrastructure sector.

Principal Secretary Ashwini Bhide, in her opening remarks, noted that the workshop was organized to ensure the dynamic execution of infrastructure projects. Development in infrastructure is crucial for achieving Maharashtra’s goal of a one-trillion-dollar economy. The workshop will facilitate the exchange of ideas to ensure rapid project completion.
