The individuals taken into custody have been identified as Rishav, Mukesh Kumar, Lakhwinder Singh, Ravi Kumar, Baljinder Singh, and Talwinder Singh. DGP Yadav noted that the magnitude of this operation is remarkable, representing one of the largest recoveries of MDMA tablets in India.
The seized substances include an astonishing 1,215 MDMA tablets, 263 grams of cocaine, 82 grams of methamphetamine (ICE), 1.2 kg of various THC variants, 16 grams of magic mushrooms, and 400 grams of opium. Initial investigations indicate that this syndicate procured narcotics from overseas through air courier services and utilized encrypted social media platforms to manage distribution while evading law enforcement detection.
Ongoing investigations aim to uncover additional associates involved in this network.
Detailing the operation, Assistant Inspector General (ANTF) Ashwini Gotyal mentioned that the raid was initiated based on reliable human intelligence, which revealed that a supplier, identified as Rishav, was operating from an apartment in Kharar town, distributing narcotics primarily within club and party circuits, targeting the youth of the tricity area, including Chandigarh, Panchkula, and Mohali.
In a swift response, police teams executed a meticulously planned raid at the identified location, resulting in Rishav's arrest along with 1,215 MDMA tablets, 155 grams of cocaine, 82 grams of ICE, 10 variants of THC weighing 973 grams, 16 grams of magic mushrooms, 400 grams of opium, and Rs 3 lakh in cash.
The AIG further revealed that subsequent investigations uncovered a more extensive distribution network centered in Ludhiana, which served as a critical supply and redistribution hub for the tricity region.
Coordinated follow-up raids led to the arrest of key operatives Mukesh Kumar, Lakhwinder Singh, Ravi Kumar, Baljinder Singh, and Talwinder Singh, along with the recovery of 108 grams of cocaine, 278 grams of THC, and Rs 6 lakh in drug money from their possession, the AIG concluded.
