Key Takeaways
Kolkata, Jan 23 (NationPress) As we commemorate the 129th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose today, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of West Bengal has urged the Union government to swiftly declassify all documents pertaining to this revered Indian patriot from the central archives.
In a message shared on social media early this morning, Banerjee expressed her disappointment that the enigma surrounding Netaji's disappearance remains unresolved and highlighted that her administration had previously made the state archives' files on Netaji public.
The Chief Minister also emphasized Netaji’s enduring spirit and his message advocating for communal harmony across the nation.
"It is truly unfortunate that the mystery of Netaji’s disappearance continues to intrigue us. The fate of Netaji post-1945 remains a profound sadness for many. However, we have long since unveiled all state-related documents. I reiterate my appeal to the Government of India to release all information regarding Netaji,” she stated in her post.
Notably, Netaji's birth anniversary coincides with Saraswati Puja, a significant festival in West Bengal, particularly among students and youth celebrating Devi Saraswati, the Goddess of knowledge and music.
In her social media update, the Chief Minister asserted that honoring Netaji means embodying his principles of communal unity and universal brotherhood.
“Netaji understood that our nation encompasses all people: Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Punjabis, Tamils, Gujaratis, and Bengalis alike. His Azad Hind Fauj epitomized secularism and unity, where individuals of diverse faiths and backgrounds fought together for our nation. To genuinely honor Netaji, we must uphold his values of unity, brotherhood, and harmony, transcending all barriers of caste, religion, and gender. We are all Indians, and this is our collective identity,” the Chief Minister concluded.
