Kolkata, March 22 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee, has had her visit to the United Kingdom postponed again, with her new departure time set for Saturday evening.

According to state secretariat sources, she is anticipated to arrive at London's Heathrow Airport on Sunday afternoon, as per Indian Standard Time (IST), with a scheduled stop in Dubai.

Initially, the Chief Minister and her delegation were slated to leave Kolkata at 9:10 a.m. on Saturday, first heading to Dubai. Following that, they were to board a flight to London at 8 p.m. IST the same day.

However, insiders revealed on Friday afternoon that the trip might be delayed by two days due to issues at Heathrow Airport, where a 'significant power shortage' caused by a fire in a substation in the western part of the city was reported.

Despite this, state government officials are working diligently to maintain the original itinerary as closely as possible. As per the revised plan, she will now leave Kolkata on Saturday evening.

The Chief Minister has a busy agenda planned for her time in London. On March 24, she is expected to participate in an event organized by the Indian High Commission in London.

Following this, on March 25, she will engage with local industrialists and business leaders. A Government-to-Business (G2B) meeting is slated for March 26. Finally, on March 27, she will present a lecture at one of the colleges associated with Oxford University.

She is scheduled to return to Kolkata on March 28.

It is noteworthy that CM Banerjee had received an invitation to visit the United Kingdom in 2021 for a lecture at Oxford University, which unfortunately did not occur.

In 2015, Chief Minister Banerjee visited the UK, joined by several cabinet members, including then-state Finance Minister Amit Mitra, who currently serves as the Chief Economic Advisor to her.
