Imphal, Aug 29 (NationPress) The Governor of Manipur, Ajay Kumar Bhalla, conducted a review on Friday of the operations of the Manipur State Rural Livelihood Mission (MSRLM) aimed at enhancing the livelihoods of rural residents, as reported by officials.
An official from Raj Bhavan indicated that during the assembly, the Director of MSRLM along with senior officials presented in detail the current projects designed to uplift rural communities. The review included discussions on various initiatives' progress, financial aspects, workforce needs, and other significant topics.
As per the official, particular focus was placed on the performance of Self-Help Groups (SHGs), the activities of Rural Self Employment Training Institutes (RSETIs), and the training programs organized for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) affected by ethnic violence.
The Governor instructed the officials to further bolster manpower and improve the outreach of the existing projects and schemes to ensure a more substantial impact at the grassroots level.
Subsequently, representatives from Karkinos Healthcare Pvt. Ltd. met with the Governor, providing updates on the development of the Karkinos Manipur Cancer Institute and Research Centre. The team emphasized the advanced facilities being constructed, the prospective benefits for cancer care, and the opportunities the institute would generate for the people of Manipur and other Northeastern states.
Additionally, members from the Manipur Equestrian Association briefed the Governor about their initiatives aimed at the comprehensive development of equestrian sports within the state and the conservation of the indigenous Manipuri Pony.
On the occasion of National Sports Day, the Governor extended greetings to everyone while honoring hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand Singh. Bhalla praised his commitment and encouraged the youth to draw motivation from his remarkable life and sportsmanship, as stated by the official.
Meanwhile, the Department of Physical Education and Sports Science (PESS) at Manipur University, in partnership with the Fit India Campaign Committee, Fit India Club, and the National Service Scheme (NSS) Cell, organized the Nationwide Celebration of Sports, Spirit & Unity on National Sports Day at Dr. Kamal Indoor Stadium, Manipur University, Canchipur.
The event was conducted under the national theme “Ek Ghanta Khel Ke Maidan Mein” initiated by the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, and the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India.
