Manipur: Weapons and Narcotics Seized; Two Arrested

Imphal, Dec 21 (NationPress) - The Manipur Police, in conjunction with other security forces, successfully seized a variety of weapons and ammunition from several fringe and vulnerable regions, in addition to apprehending two suspects with drugs on Saturday, according to official sources.
A police representative indicated that ongoing operations were conducted in the fringe and vulnerable regions of both hill and valley districts, leading to the recovery of various arms and ammunition.
Throughout these search operations across different districts, the confiscated items included: one 51 mortar, one 7.62 SLR with a magazine, two modified Sniper 7.62 rifles with empty magazines, one modified grenade launcher, two single barrel guns, four IEDs weighing approximately 7 kg, three 36 hand grenades lacking detonators, one misfired 51 mortar bomb, one battery, and about 10 meters of flexible wire.
Additionally, a significant assortment of various types of ammunition, a wireless communication device labeled as Baofeng, bulletproof jackets, one pair of camouflage jungle boots, a pair of gum boots, and two BP Iron Plates were also retrieved.
In a separate incident, the Manipur Police apprehended two individuals in a four-wheeled vehicle, who were discovered transporting drugs contained in 30 packets, each holding 90 strips (amounting to a total of 2700 strips) from Hengbung village along National Highway-2 near the Senapati District.
The detained suspects were identified as Md. Akber Khan (37) and Md. Abdul Rahman (36).
Items seized from their possession included a car, four mobile phones, Aadhaar cards, a PAN card, and cash totaling Rs 7360.
In another case, security forces arrested a male identified as Jamkhomang Haokip (27) from Torbung Bazar under the Churachandpur District, during which a pistol was discovered in his possession.
A police official stated that search operations and area domination were also conducted along the National and primary highways to facilitate the unhindered movement of various vehicles, including those carrying goods.
Stringent security measures have been implemented in all vulnerable areas, ensuring that security convoys are deployed on sensitive routes to guarantee safe and free passage for vehicles.
