Mastering AI and Quantum Computing Technologies to Propel India's Innovation: Rajnath Singh

New Delhi, Dec 19 (NationPress) Indian scientists and engineers must specialise in high-end technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Quantum Computing to enhance the nation’s standing in advanced innovation globally, asserted Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday.
This statement was made during his address at the inaugural session of the Indian National Academy of Engineering’s Annual Convention held at IIT Delhi.
Singh stressed that these specific technologies are set to significantly influence nearly every industry in the near future.
“Currently, we are in the early stages. Our objective should be to first master these technologies so they can be harnessed for the benefit of the populace to meet their essential needs,” he remarked.
He also highlighted the fact that the world is perpetually changing, and the defence sector must adapt to these transformations.
While India previously lagged in modern weaponry and technology, the nation is now progressing “towards self-reliance in defence at an extraordinary pace,” he stated.
Praising the contributions of IITs to the scientific advancement of the country, the Defence Minister advocated for a stronger collaborative relationship between industry, research and development organisations, and educational institutions.
“In developed nations, academic institutions are pivotal in advancing frontier technologies. It is essential to find ways to integrate IIT Delhi and similar centres of higher learning into the government’s development initiatives,” he noted.
“India currently boasts the youngest population. Our youth possess the enthusiasm and capability to innovate. Our government supports them at every phase.
We foster their creativity and allocate funds based on their requirements.”
He acknowledged that the nation has now “emerged as a hub for innovation and start-ups,” leading to continuous technological advancement.
“We will always back our engineers and innovators. Through our collective efforts, we will achieve our vision of ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’,” Singh declared.
