Barabanki, June 18 (NationPress) Former Uttar Pradesh Minister and Apni Janata Party President Swami Prasad Maurya expressed admiration for Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati, declaring her the finest Chief Minister in the history of Uttar Pradesh.
During a press conference at the Chauhan Guest House in Barabanki, part of his 'Samvidhan Samman aur Janhit Hunkar Yatra', Maurya criticized the incumbent BJP government and the Samajwadi Party, while highlighting Mayawati's exemplary governance, which he claimed set standards for law and order not just in Uttar Pradesh but across India.
“When comparing the Chief Ministers of BSP, BJP, and SP, Mayawati distinctly shines. Her tenure was marked by a genuine rule of law that resonated throughout the nation,” Maurya stated.
Despite his accolades, he voiced concerns regarding her current political stance, noting, “She is no longer the same Behenji. She has drifted from the principles of Babasaheb Ambedkar and Kanshi Ram, leading to a disconnect with the people.”
Having transitioned between major parties like BJP, BSP, and SP, Maurya now leads his own party—Apni Janata Party.
At the event, he emphasized that his party is preparing for a vigorous electoral campaign.
Maurya revealed that in the upcoming district panchayat elections, party members will have the autonomy to choose their candidates. He also indicated that the Apni Janata Party intends to contest all 403 seats in the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.
“Our objective is not merely to participate, but to free Uttar Pradesh from the grips of the BJP. We are open to collaborating with any party dedicated to defeating the BJP,” he asserted.
Currently, Maurya is on the 'Samvidhan Samman aur Janhit Hunkar Yatra', a statewide initiative aimed at promoting awareness regarding social justice, public welfare, and constitutional protection.
“This campaign, aiming to unveil the anti-people, casteist, and communal policies of the BJP government, will persist until the BJP is removed from power,” Maurya stated.
Earlier, he received a warm welcome from his supporters upon his arrival in Barabanki. He expressed gratitude to the crowd and reiterated his dedication to advocating for the marginalized and oppressed communities.
