Bhopal, Nov 28 (NationPress) Following the admission of the minor rape case suspect to Hamidia hospital for medical treatment due to injuries sustained during a police encounter in Bhopal, members of the social group 'Sanskriti Bachao Manch' organized a protest outside the hospital.

The demonstrators arrived at Hamidia hospital, chanting slogans and demanding the death penalty for the accused, Salman, who was apprehended a week after allegedly assaulting the victim in the Gauharganj region of Raisen district on November 21.

Chandrashekhar Tiwari, the state convenor of 'Sanskriti Bachao Manch', expressed, "The accused should have been eliminated during the police encounter. Why was it not a decisive encounter?" he stated in an interview with IANS.

Salman, also known as Nazar (23), was ultimately arrested on Thursday night after a tense 144-hour manhunt. His capture occurred dramatically in Bhopal, following an escape attempt that resulted in police having to fire shots.

Previously, police had placed a bounty of ₹30,000 on Salman as he had been on the run since November 21. He was located at a tea stall near the Gandhi Nagar police station in Bhopal late Thursday, as reported by the authorities.

Investigations revealed that he had been hiding in the city for three days, seeking refuge in the vicinity of a friend's residence but received no assistance or warning to the police from this individual.

The turning point in locating Salman came from observant residents. He had previously worked at the same tea stall two years ago and was reportedly trying to rent a place in the Gandhi Nagar area, although he lacked identification.

This raised suspicions, prompting residents to notify the police, who acted quickly to apprehend him. Shortly after, the Gandhi Nagar Police transferred Salman to the Sultanganj police station in Raisen, where a series of events unfolded unexpectedly.

While being moved, the suspect attempted to flee in a wooded area. To prevent his escape, law enforcement had to shoot him in the leg, halting his flight.

Salman is accused of sexually assaulting the minor on November 21. The young girl was playing outside her home when he allegedly lured her with promises of chocolate and took her into a nearby forest, where he assaulted her and then fled.

The victim was found by her family, who had initiated a search after her disappearance. The six-year-old girl was initially taken to a government hospital, where the assault was confirmed, and later referred to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhopal.

The public response has been overwhelmingly outraged regarding this case.

Members of another Hindu organization rushed to the Gandhi Nagar police station upon hearing of the arrest, amidst widespread protests demanding the death penalty for Salman.

The seriousness of the situation prompted an immediate response from the state government.

Chief Minister Yadav ordered the instant removal of Pankaj Pandey, the Raisen Superintendent of Police (SP), who has since been reassigned to headquarters.
