Imphal, July 24 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Mizoram, Lalduhoma, announced on Thursday that the state government is actively working to enhance the health infrastructure to ensure the delivery of superior healthcare services to its citizens.
During the inauguration of the newly built Trauma Care Facility at Aizawl Civil Hospital, the Chief Minister emphasized the government's commitment to expanding the hospital further, which includes the construction of two new blocks estimated at Rs 88.33 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram (PMJVK) scheme.
To address the rising healthcare demands, additional services such as cardiac care, kidney dialysis, and IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) are set to be introduced, marking a significant advancement in emergency healthcare in Mizoram, he noted.
The Chief Minister expressed heartfelt appreciation to everyone involved in bringing this essential facility to fruition, affirming that it would serve as a crucial hub for prompt trauma response and critical care for the populace.
Lalduhoma, a former IPS officer turned politician, noted that Mizoram's healthcare professionals are exceptionally skilled, and the government is devoted to providing the necessary facilities and infrastructure to ensure effective care, particularly for the economically disadvantaged.
He also assured that the trauma care facility would continue to evolve based on practical needs and feedback from healthcare professionals.
In her remarks, State’s Health Minister Lalrinpuii reiterated the department’s commitment to enhancing health services and expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for his unwavering support.
Health officials indicated that the construction of Aizawl Civil Hospital's Trauma Facility faced delays due to land disputes and the Covid-19 pandemic. It has now been completed with Rs 121.50 lakh from the Central government and Rs 450 lakh from the state government.
This facility boasts a reception and triage area, treatment and observation rooms, imaging services (X-ray/CT scan), a minor OT/resuscitation room, and spaces for medical staff. It is one of seven Trauma Care Facilities now established throughout Mizoram.
