New Delhi, Feb 28 (NationPress) Utilize science and innovation to create a Viksit Bharat, emphasized Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday during National Science Day celebrations.
National Science Day is observed annually on February 28 to honor the discovery of the ‘Raman Effect’ by the distinguished physicist Sir C.V. Raman, who conducted research in the laboratories of the Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science, Kolkata. This groundbreaking work earned him the Nobel Prize in 1930.
“Warm wishes on National Science Day to those who are fervent about science, especially our young innovators,” PM Modi remarked in a message on the social media platform X.
“Let us continue to promote science and innovation while utilizing it to establish a Viksit Bharat,” he added.
The Prime Minister also released a tribute video dedicated to physicist Raman, discussing the significance of science in the advancement of every sector and region.
He noted that “curiosity is the mother of science... and every mind is drawn to science.”
In this month’s #MannKiBaat, the PM mentioned “‘One Day as a Scientist’… where young people engage in various scientific activities.”
This year’s theme for National Science Day is “empowering Indian youth for global leadership in science and innovation for Viksit Bharat.”

Union Minister of Education Dharmendra Pradhan extended his “greetings to our esteemed scientists, researchers, and innovators who have contributed to India’s advancement and are striving to position India as a global leader in science and technology.”
Reaffirming his “commitment to utilizing science for an Aatmanirbhar and Viksit Bharat,” he mentioned on X that “India’s journey toward self-reliance will be propelled by cutting-edge research and indigenous technological innovations.”
Jitendra Singh, Minister of State for Science and Technology, also conveyed his greetings to the nation on National Science Day.
