Bhubaneswar, Sep 23 (NationPress) The schedule of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his visit to Odisha has been altered following the Indian Meteorological Department's (IMD) warning regarding severe weather conditions anticipated in the region due to a low-pressure system, as stated by government officials on Tuesday.
The Chief Minister's Office (CMO) reported that the Prime Minister, who was initially set to partake in a program in Berhampur of Ganjam district, will now make his visit to Odisha on September 27 and will address a public assembly at Jharsuguda.
This alteration in location was made as a precautionary step due to the IMD's forecast of substantial rainfall and unfavorable conditions in portions of southern Odisha.
Previously, Odisha Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari also suggested relocating the venue due to the possible formation of a low-pressure area in the Bay of Bengal off the Odisha coast on Thursday.
According to the Revenue Minister, a report was submitted to the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) by the Odisha government proposing a new venue for PM Modi's event recently.
Once the PMO confirmed the change, the state government announced on Tuesday that the program will be conducted at Jharsuguda on September 27.
The Prime Minister was previously scheduled to participate in the Seva Parv program and inaugurate/dedicate several developmental projects to the nation on September 27.
Significantly, the projects include the capacity enhancement of eight IITs, the doubling of the Koraput-Baiguda and Manabar-Koraput-Gorapur railway lines, and the inauguration of the Sambalpur-Sarala flyover.
The Prime Minister is also set to launch BSNL's domestically developed 4G network services nationwide.
Additionally, PM Modi is expected to announce the elevation of MKCG and VIMSAR Medical Colleges to globally recognized super-speciality institutions and inaugurate a national skill development initiative.
The IMD Bhubaneswar had previously predicted that a new low-pressure area is likely to develop over the northwest and adjacent central Bay of Bengal off the Odisha coast on Thursday.
