New Delhi, Jan 19 (NationPress) Emphasizing the profound cultural, linguistic, historical, and civilisational ties between the citizens of India and Sri Lanka, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed his support for the renaming of the renowned Cultural Center in Jaffna, which was established with Indian aid, to 'Thiruvalluvar Cultural Center' in tribute to the esteemed Tamil philosopher, poet, and thinker Thiruvalluvar.

In reaction to a post shared by the Indian Embassy in Sri Lanka on Saturday on X, PM Modi stated: "Welcome the renaming of the renowned Cultural Center in Jaffna, established with Indian support, to 'Thiruvalluvar Cultural Center'. This not only honors the illustrious Thiruvalluvar but also symbolizes the profound cultural, linguistic, historical, and civilisational connections between the peoples of India and Sri Lanka."

The Indian Embassy in Sri Lanka announced that the Cultural Center in Jaffna was officially renamed 'Thiruvalluvar Cultural Center' on Saturday in recognition of the Tamil poet-philosopher Thiruvalluvar.

"In tribute to the great Tamil poet-philosopher Thiruvalluvar, the Cultural Center in Jaffna was renamed today as 'Thiruvalluvar Cultural Center' during a ceremony attended by HC @santjha, Minister of Buddhasasana, Religious & Cultural Affairs Sunil Senevi, and the Governor of Northern Province," the Indian Embassy in Sri Lanka posted on X.
