Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Gujarat on 30 and 31 October 2026 for a packed two-day programme spanning Banaskantha and Ekta Nagar (Kevadia), during which he will inaugurate and lay foundation stones for development projects worth more than ₹14,000 crore, release approximately ₹19,000 crore as the 24th instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme, and attend the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas celebrations marking Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's 151st birth anniversary, according to officials.
Key Developments in Banaskantha
In Banaskantha, Modi will dedicate the Bharat Bovine Breeding and Research Centre (BBBRC) at Bhildi to the nation. Spread over 127 acres, the facility focuses on genetic improvement and advanced reproductive technologies, and will be India's first centre dedicated to the Kankrej cattle breed. Officials expect it to accelerate breed improvement by 10 to 20 times.
The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stones for two Bio-CNG plants of Banas Dairy at Tharad and Radhanpur, with capacities to process 75 metric tonnes and 100 metric tonnes of cattle dung per day respectively.
On the infrastructure front, Modi will lay the foundation stone for the extension of Ahmedabad Metro Phase-2 to the airport (Phase-2A, over 6 km, 5 stations) and to GIFT City (Phase-2B, over 3.3 km, 3 stations). He will also launch the widening of Ahmedabad-Mehsana Road (State Highway-41) from four to eight lanes at an estimated cost of ₹2,600 crore.
In social infrastructure, foundation stones will be laid for 4,030 new Anganwadi centres and 361 completed centres will be inaugurated across Gujarat, with a combined investment of ₹800 crore expected to benefit more than four lakh people.
Agriculture and Farmer Welfare
Modi will dedicate 521 projects completed under the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund to the nation. With a combined project cost of around ₹4,950 crore, the projects include cold storage, cold chains, warehouses, silos, polyhouses, greenhouses, and food-processing infrastructure.
He will inaugurate the expansion of the potato processing plant at Sanadar and commission an automated storage and retrieval system for ultra-high-temperature products at Palanpur.
The Prime Minister will also flag off the Ahmedabad (Sabarmati)-Varanasi Express and the Mehsana-Becharaji-Sabarmati MEMU service, and launch on-ground activities under 12 approved horticulture clusters covering around 1.46 lakh hectares and expected to benefit more than 1.3 lakh farmers. Two clusters in North Gujarat will centre on potatoes.
The release of the 24th PM-KISAN instalment, amounting to approximately ₹19,000 crore, will provide direct financial assistance to farmers across the country. This is the latest in a series of bi-annual payouts under the scheme, which transfers ₹6,000 per year directly to eligible farm households.
Bharat Parv and Ekta Prakash Parv at Ekta Nagar
On 30 October, Modi will travel to Ekta Nagar, where he will inaugurate 'Bharat Parv 2026' at around 5 pm. The festival, running until 15 November, will feature folk performances, regional cuisines, handicrafts, and tourism attractions from states and Union Territories across India.
He will also witness the 'Ekta Prakash Parv', a festival of illumination, followed by the Narmada Aarti. The light displays include a 530-metre illuminated stretch along Valley of Flowers Road themed 'From Ancient India to Modern India' and a 180-metre Glow Tunnel celebrating India's four regional cultures. More than 1.5 crore LED lights have been deployed, with artworks contributed by artists from across the country.
Rashtriya Ekta Diwas on October 31
On 31 October, the Prime Minister will offer floral tributes at the Statue of Unity before inaugurating and laying foundation stones for projects worth more than ₹400 crore in Ekta Nagar. These include a sewage and water treatment plant, facade lighting, upgradation of Narmada Ghat, an IRCTC hotel, and the Rainforest, Unity and Eco Trail.
The Rashtriya Ekta Diwas celebrations at around 5:30 pm will feature a parade by Central Armed Police Forces, state police forces, and central police organisations. This year's theme is 'Vande Mataram', with particular emphasis on security forces' achievements in combating Left-Wing Extremism (LWE).
A theatrical presentation titled 'Naxal Mukt Bharat', organised by the National School of Drama, will feature around 2,000 artists from 126 districts previously affected by Left-Wing Extremism, depicting those communities' journey towards peace and development. A separate cultural presentation will involve approximately 5,000 artists from across India showcasing classical and folk traditions.
The visit comes as the Centre continues to push Gujarat as a showcase for integrated development, with the scale of projects — spanning agri-infrastructure, urban mobility, cultural programming, and welfare transfers — underscoring the political and developmental significance of the state ahead of the anniversary of India's Iron Man.
