New Delhi, Feb 26 (NationPress) On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi honored Vinayak Damodar Savarkar on his death anniversary, asserting that the revolutionary leader's legacy and achievements will perpetually motivate future generations in their dedication to the nation.

Veer Savarkar, as he is popularly known, authored the influential book Hindutva in 1923, which laid out the principles of Hindu nationalism. He was a key figure in revolutionary efforts against British colonial rule and endured 27 years of incarceration in the Cellular Jail. His efforts were pivotal in shaping the Indian freedom struggle.

In a message posted on X, PM Modi remarked, "On this day of remembrance, I extend my sincere tributes to the esteemed revolutionary Veer Savarkar ji. He devoted his entire existence to liberating the nation from colonial oppression. His remarkable character and actions will continue to galvanize every generation toward serving the nation."

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also commemorated Savarkar, referring to him as 'Swatantryaveer' and highlighting him as "one of the freedom struggle's champions who fought for both political freedom and cultural integrity against British rule."

Shah further noted, "His revolutionary vision laid the ideological groundwork for the freedom movement, and his audacious efforts from our homeland to England served as a source of inspiration for the youth," in a post on X.

He added, "The tale of Veer Savarkar's sacrifice, commitment, and bravery, who tirelessly worked to eliminate untouchability and promote women's education, will forever illuminate the ideals of 'Nation First' for every patriot."

Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda also honored Savarkar, calling him a "remarkable freedom fighter" who dedicated every moment of his life to serving the country.

"Even the harshest tortures inflicted by the British regime could not diminish his unwavering loyalty to Mother Bharati. His immense contributions to igniting nationalism among the populace during the freedom struggle deserve our deepest respect," Nadda expressed on X.

"His insightful vision regarding the sanctity of Hindu culture and an undivided Bharat, coupled with his profound allegiance to the nation, is truly commendable for every citizen to emulate," he further stated.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also paid homage, recalling Savarkar's "unyielding bravery, unmatched sacrifice, and steadfast commitment to the nation, which creates a celebrated chapter in India's freedom narrative."

On X, Singh remarked, "His life and passionate ideals continue to inspire millions of Indians today."
