Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth will on Tuesday inaugurate the second Annual Trident Lecture of the Centre for Joint Warfare Studies (CENJOWS) at Manekshaw Centre, New Delhi, where he will share insights on leveraging the potential of the next generation for nation-building. The event marks a key moment in India's ongoing push to deepen jointness and integration across its armed forces.

Theme and Key Addresses

This year's lecture is organised around the theme 'National Resurgence through the Lens of Defence Forces', as part of CENJOWS' anniversary celebrations. Seth will deliver opening remarks focused on 'Leveraging the Potential of Next Generation for Nation Building'.

The Keynote Address will be delivered by Air Marshal Tejinder Singh, Chief of Integrated Defence Staff to the Chairman, Chiefs of Staff Committee (CISC), and Chairman, CENJOWS, on 'Emerging Contours of Jointness and Integration'. Special Addresses are also scheduled from Lt Gen Raj Shukla (Retd) on 'Civil-Military Fusion: The Way for National Growth', and from Lt Gen Sandeep Jain, Vice Chief of the Army Staff, on 'Fighting Smartly: Multi-Domain Operations and The Concept of Jointness'.

What the Lecture Brings Together

The forum will convene senior military leadership alongside eminent strategic experts for structured deliberations on jointness and integration, multi-domain operations, civil-military fusion, and the role of the armed forces in national development. The breadth of representation signals a shift from siloed service thinking toward a unified operational doctrine.

Notably, this comes just days after the conclusion of the fourth edition of the Tri-Services Future Warfare Course, also conducted under the aegis of Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff (HQ IDS) and coordinated by CENJOWS at Manekshaw Centre. That course brought together officers from the Army, Navy, and Air Force alongside representatives from government organisations, academia, industry, and strategic think-tanks over four weeks of professional military education.

At the closing of the Future Warfare Course on Sunday, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General N.S. Raja Subramani reinforced the imperative to remain agile, innovative, and future-ready in an era of rapidly evolving warfare. His remarks underscored the institutional urgency behind events like the Trident Lecture — building a joint warfighting culture that can respond to emerging threats across domains.
