Gwalior, Feb 18 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Mohan Yadav, declared on Wednesday that the state will cover the registration fees for land given to families without homes or land, as part of the Chief Minister Land Rights Lease Scheme.
This announcement came during a farmers’ conference held in Gwalior district, where he also launched new development initiatives totaling Rs 87.86 crore.
At the event, Yadav emphasized the support provided for agriculture and farmer welfare in the state budget introduced earlier in the Assembly. He reiterated the government’s pledge to enhance the economic situation for farmers and underprivileged groups.
“This is the first instance where the state government has allocated over Rs 1 lakh crore for farmers’ welfare in the budget. Today, I am pleased to announce that the government will cover the registration fees for land provided to beneficiaries under the land rights lease scheme,” he stated.
The initiative, which began in 2025, aims to supply residential land to homeless families following amendments to the Madhya Pradesh Urban Areas Landless Persons (Lease Rights) Act, 1984. The eligibility cutoff for applicants was set to December 31, 2020.
The allotment of land was carried out after a comprehensive survey by district administrations, overseen by the Urban Development Department. Furthermore, a timetable for distributing residential land leases to qualifying individuals has been established, spanning from January 4, 2026, to February 20, 2026.
As per official regulations, permanent leases will be issued in one category and temporary leases in another, based on specific eligibility criteria. In situations necessitating slum relocations, beneficiaries will be moved to designated alternative sites.
In regions where permanent leases are awarded, urban local bodies and development authorities will prioritize the delivery of essential infrastructure, including roads, potable water, drainage systems, and electricity.
The government has also assured that strict measures will be enforced against anyone engaged in illegal occupation, fraud, or deceitful means to obtain lease benefits. Such individuals will be permanently barred from the program.
