Bhopal, March 11 (NationPress) The Madhya Pradesh government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, is set to unveil the economic survey during a session in the Legislative Assembly on Tuesday, marking the second day of the current budget session. Additionally, the government will introduce the second supplementary budget.
After these announcements, members from both the ruling BJP and the Opposition Congress will participate in a discussion regarding the Governor’s address. The state administration is preparing to release the annual budget for the financial year 2025-26 on Wednesday.
During a 21-minute address to the House on Monday, Governor Mangubhai Patel detailed the government’s accomplishments over the past year and its future plans. He underscored significant policy initiatives and welfare programs enacted by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Central government, highlighting their contributions to the nation’s comprehensive development.
The Governor specifically discussed river-linking projects, such as the Ken-Betwa project, which aims to supply drinking water and irrigation to 10 districts in Bundelkhand. The Parvati-Kalisindh project is anticipated to assist 11 districts in the Malwa region, while the Tapti Basin recharge project will benefit both Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra.
On the agricultural front, Patel highlighted that through the Mukhyamantri Kisan Kalyan Yojana, the government is providing Rs 6,000 annually to 80 lakh farmers via direct benefit transfer (DBT). This year alone, Rs 1,624 crore has been transferred as the third installment, with a total of Rs 4,000 crore disbursed over the past year.
In terms of infrastructure, the Governor announced that the state’s irrigation coverage is projected to grow from 50 lakh hectares to 100 lakh hectares by 2028-29. He also mentioned ongoing advancements in the healthcare sector, revealing plans for 12 new medical colleges to be established through a public-private partnership model.
Regarding housing, the Governor informed the assembly that 36 lakh houses have been completed, with an additional 13 lakh currently under construction. The Central government has set a goal for an extra 11.86 lakh houses.
Furthermore, the Governor discussed preparations for the Simhastha Kumbh in Ujjain in 2028, promising it will be a remarkable and unique event. He also noted that 5,190 km of new roads and 76 bridges have been integrated into the state’s infrastructure.
