Bhopal, July 4 (NationPress) Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced on Friday that his administration is committed to establishing 50 medical colleges throughout the state within the next two years.
With the state's population nearing 90 million, CM Yadav emphasized the urgent need for enhancing rural healthcare services. He highlighted the significant growth in medical education.
As of 2023, Madhya Pradesh had only five medical colleges, but this number has surged to 30, with expectations to reach 36 by the end of the year and a target of 50 in the following two years. This initiative will create over 10,000 new medical seats annually, he remarked during a gathering honoring high-achieving students receiving laptops under the Pratibhashali Vidyarthi Protsahan Yojana. The government is also committed to supporting students in various professional courses like engineering, ensuring that tuition fees are not a barrier to talent, he stated.
This expansion aims to revolutionize healthcare access and pave the way for aspiring professionals across the state. In recent years, over 15,000 students have been rewarded with electric scooters for their academic achievements, alongside direct laptop grants.
According to Tribal Affairs Minister Kunwar Vijay Shah, for the first time, arrangements are being made for complimentary hostel facilities, meals, and coaching for tribal students preparing for exams.
Hostels for both boys and girls have been established in every revenue division, with Rs 25 crore allocated for each center.
Minister Shah remarked, "Now, tribal children can aspire to greatness and compete in administrative services."
The Chief Minister transferred Rs 25,000 each to 94,234 exceptional students who achieved 75 percent or higher in their Class 12 MP Board exams, assisting them in purchasing laptops of their choice. This year, Rs 235.58 crore was distributed under the scheme, benefiting nearly 60 percent female students.
Since its launch in 2009-10, the initiative has supported over 4.32 lakh students with a cumulative financial investment of Rs 1080.04 crore.
The Chief Minister characterized this initiative as more than just a reward.
He referred to it as an instrument to shape futures and unlock potential. With substantial investments in medical education and grassroots initiatives to cultivate academic talent, Madhya Pradesh is not only envisioning the future but actively constructing it from the ground up.
