Nadda Criticizes Congress Chief for Undermining Constitutional Authority

New Delhi, Dec 12 (NationPress) The Leader of the House in the Rajya Sabha and Union Minister J.P. Nadda on Thursday vehemently criticized the Congress party and Leader of Opposition (LoP) Mallikarjun Kharge for undermining and derogating constitutional roles and for questioning the Chair.
While addressing the Rajya Sabha, Nadda asserted that the Chair cannot be questioned regarding admissibility and that the Chairman's decisions are not open to criticism. He stated, “To do so is contempt of the House and the Chairman.”
Expressing his discontent, Nadda remarked, “It is regrettable that yesterday, one of the most senior and seasoned leaders, Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge, held a press conference to criticize the Chair. This behavior is condemnable and unacceptable. It sets a dangerous precedent.”
During his address, members of the Opposition engaged in sloganeering.
Nadda noted, “Kharge claimed that he was not granted an opportunity. It’s important to highlight that the Chair repeatedly reached out to the Leader of Opposition to engage and attend the sessions. However, he consistently declined and also skipped the last BSE meeting.”
“This reflects their true commitment to democratic norms and their respect for it,” he added, directing his remarks at the Congress party.
On the previous day, Kharge, along with leaders from the INDIA alliance, launched a fierce critique of Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar, blaming him for the persistent disruptions in the House due to his “headmaster-like demeanor” and treating “Parliament like a classroom.”
During a collaborative press conference with Congress and its partners, Kharge made serious allegations against Vice President Dhankhar, claiming, “The greatest disruptor of the House is the Chairman himself.”
Kharge accused the Rajya Sabha Chairman of biased behavior, alleging he often acted as a “mouthpiece for the ruling party.”
Nadda also highlighted that the Congress's social media accounts had referred to the Chairman as “Chair Leader.”
He stated, “The attempts made to demean and belittle a constitutional role, along with the disruption of democratic values and the constitutional framework, will not be forgiven by the nation.”
Nadda continued, “Today, they express concern for constitutional roles and procedures. This is the same Parliament outside which Congress leaders ridiculed and mocked the Chairman, while their senior party member filmed it.”
“The Congress party shows no interest in constitutional processes nor do they respect constitutional norms. Their press conference yesterday clearly indicates they wish to divert attention away from significant national issues,” he added.
Furthermore, questioning the “link” between Congress and international interests, Nadda stated, “The nation deserves to know the connection between senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi and George Soros, who invests billions to undermine India. Congress accepts his funding to facilitate the destabilization of the country.”
“The nation will not forgive them. The BJP strongly condemns the Opposition’s attempts to criticize constitutional roles,” he said.
Amid the uproar and chanting from the Opposition, the Rajya Sabha proceedings were suspended until 2 p.m.
