Rajya Sabha Postponed Until December 16 as Deadlock Persists

New Delhi, Dec 13 (NationPress) The Rajya Sabha was postponed until December 16 amidst the ongoing deadlock between the treasury benches and the Opposition regarding the no-trust notice targeting Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar.

As the Opposition remained firm on its demands related to the no-trust notice, BJP MPs raised allegations concerning the purported connection between former Congress president Sonia Gandhi and US billionaire George Soros, leading to boisterous exchanges.

With little prospect of restoring normalcy within the House, the Chair decided to adjourn the proceedings until Monday.

On Thursday, the Leader of the House in Rajya Sabha and Union Minister J. P. Nadda sharply criticized the Congress and Leader of Opposition (LoP) Mallikarjun Kharge for demeaning and derogating Constitutional roles and for challenging the Chair.

Nadda stressed that the Chair should not be questioned regarding admissibility, and the Chairman's ruling is not subject to challenge or criticism. To do so, he stated, is contempt of the House and the Chairman.

Throughout his address, Opposition MPs continued to engage in sloganeering.

Expressing his dismay, Nadda remarked, "With sadness, I must say that yesterday, one of the most senior and experienced leaders, Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge, held a press conference and criticized the Chair. This is condemnable and objectionable. It sets a precedent for a wrong tradition. No amount of condemnation would suffice for this."

Just a day prior, Kharge, along with leaders from the INDIA bloc, launched a fierce critique against Chairman Dhankhar, attributing the repeated disruptions of the House to his headmaster-like demeanor and his treatment of Parliament like a school.

In a joint press briefing with Congress and its allies, Kharge made serious allegations against Vice President Dhankhar, asserting, "The biggest disruptor of the House is the Chairman himself."

Kharge accused the Rajya Sabha Chairman of partisan behavior, claiming that he frequently acted as a spokesperson for the ruling party.
