New Delhi, April 6 (NationPress) Amar Panasukh, who spent the last 15 years in a rented accommodation in Nagpur, is now a delighted homeowner, attributing his success to the Prime Minister's Housing Scheme (Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana - PMAY), which has turned his dream into reality.

He expressed heartfelt appreciation, stating, “I am truly grateful for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiative, which has enabled me to possess my own home. This chance is a remarkable gift for individuals like myself who have faced difficulties in securing housing.”

Panasukh, who previously spent over Rs 5,000 each month on rent, has finally realized his aspiration of homeownership in Nagpur.

His experience exemplifies the transformative influence of PMAY, a comprehensive initiative launched on June 25, 2015, with the goal of providing affordable housing to disadvantaged groups. The scheme aims to construct 1.12 crore homes in urban regions, aiding low-income families, particularly women, single mothers, widows, and marginalized communities.

Reflecting on his journey, Panasukh recounted how friends informed him about the scheme. “I was fortunate to submit my application on the final day at the NIT office, even though I lacked the Rs 2,000 fee. A friend came to my aid, and I completed my application. A month later, I was elated to find my name on the list, confirming I had been awarded a house,” he shared.

Despite delays caused by construction quality and paperwork challenges, Panasukh’s perseverance ultimately led him to secure his new home.

He expressed hope that the government will continue to extend similar opportunities to others in need, as many are still awaiting their chance to benefit from the scheme.

The PMAY has already facilitated the construction of thousands of affordable homes throughout India.

Recently, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) sanctioned the development of 3.53 lakh additional houses under PMAY-U 2.0 across various states and union territories. The initiative seeks to guarantee that every citizen has access to a secure and dignified living environment.

Amar Panasukh's narrative serves as a powerful illustration of the transformational impact of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, highlighting how the scheme is altering the lives of everyday citizens and helping them achieve their homeownership dreams.
