Will Naidu Foster Ongoing Collaboration with Singapore for Amaravati's Growth?

Amaravati, July 28 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, N. Chandrababu Naidu, expressed optimism on Monday regarding the continuation of collaboration between Andhra Pradesh and Singapore for the advancement of Amaravati, the state capital.

During his second day in Singapore, Naidu highlighted that the Singaporean government provided the foundational master plan for Amaravati. He also mentioned that the World Bank has become a significant development ally in this initiative.

Recognizing that previous incidents had created some distance between the authorities of Singapore and Andhra Pradesh, Naidu affirmed that this visit's goal is to renew that partnership.

The Chief Minister mentioned that Amaravati is being developed with a vision that merges modern infrastructure with forward-thinking ideas.

He stressed that the state is adhering to globally acknowledged best practices and leveraging international expertise to create a capital that embodies both innovation and sustainability.

According to the Chief Minister’s Office, Naidu shared these insights during his visit to the Bidadari Housing Project.

Spending over two hours exploring the estate to examine its innovative and eco-friendly urban housing model, he commended the project’s thoughtful integration of nature, heritage, and community living, labeling it as a compelling example for urban development worldwide.

While at Bidadari Estate, which accommodates over 10,000 families, Singaporean officials briefed the Chief Minister on the "City in a Garden" initiative. This includes design elements that preserve mature trees, safeguard natural water bodies, and promote walkability and connectivity.

The Chief Minister engaged in dialogues on constructing quality, affordable housing in both urban and semi-urban regions of Andhra Pradesh. He praised the Housing Development Board (HDB) for its contributions to planning and executing the Bidadari project, which spans 250 acres and features extensive green infrastructure and public facilities.

He was particularly struck by how Singapore's Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) transformed a former cremation site into a tranquil urban park, demonstrating how even sensitive areas can be revitalized for the community's benefit.

After touring the estate, the Chief Minister met with senior officials from the HDB, URA, Singapore Corporation Enterprise, and the World Bank. Discussions revolved around potential collaborations in Andhra Pradesh’s future urban housing projects, especially in Amaravati.

He invited Singapore’s HDB to engage as a development partner and shared Andhra Pradesh’s urban vision, strategic objectives, and ongoing initiatives. He commended the Bidadari model as an inspiring template for Andhra Pradesh as it seeks to develop liveable and inclusive cities for the future.
