Bhandara (Maharashtra), Jan 14 (NationPress) The Congress party on Tuesday asserted that the events occurring in Beed (the murder of sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh) and Parbhani (the death of a Dalit youth Somnath Suryavanshi) are orchestrated by the BJP-led alliance government in Maharashtra, with ruling party MLAs openly sharing information provided by the government.
Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee President Nana Patole demanded, “The BJP alliance government is manipulating circumstances to shield the primary offenders. This must cease, and those responsible in the Beed case should face the death penalty.”
Patole expressed to the press that the heinous murder of Santosh Deshmukh, the sarpanch of Massajog village in Beed district, is profoundly disturbing. He emphasized that to prevent such occurrences in Maharashtra, the perpetrators must endure stringent punishment. The incidents in Beed and Parbhani have severely damaged Maharashtra's image. The drama being enacted by the BJP-led government concerning these events will not be forgiven by the citizens of Maharashtra, he stated.
Regarding the new electoral law, Patole accused that the Election Commission engaged in serious misconduct during the state Assembly elections.
“How is it possible for 7.6 million votes to surge overnight? The Election Commission has not offered adequate explanations for this anomaly. The Congress Party requested video evidence showing voter lines post 6 p.m. on Election Day, yet the Commission failed to deliver such proof. Additionally, the Chief Minister defended the Election Commission in the Assembly. To conceal the wrongdoing of electoral fraud, the central government has introduced a new law that prohibits the Election Commission from revealing any information. The BJP and the Election Commission have conspired to misappropriate votes. Consequently, the public no longer regards this government as their own,” he alleged.
Furthermore, Patole mentioned that the BJP launched the Ladki Bahin Yojana during the Assembly elections to attract female voters, promising Rs 1,500 to all sisters. “Now that the BJP government is in power, they seem to have forgotten about the sisters, and threats are being issued to reclaim the money – a blatant act of betrayal. The BJP-led government ought to honor its commitments and allocate Rs 2,100 per month to all sisters without exception,” he concluded.
