NDA Criticizes Pappu Yadav's 'Bihar Bandh', Accuses Him of Exploiting BPSC Controversy

Patna, Jan 12 (NationPress) The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has strongly condemned Independent MP Pappu Yadav for orchestrating a state-wide Bihar Bandh on Sunday, alleging that he is politicising the purported irregularities in the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) examinations for his personal advantage.
Pappu Yadav, who heads the Jan Adhikar Party, has called for the cancellation and re-examination of the 70th BPSC Preliminary Test (PT), pointing to claims of question paper leaks and mismanagement.
The protests led to significant disruption of daily activities across Bihar, with supporters blocking roads, setting tyres ablaze, and enforcing market closures in numerous districts.
Bihar Minister Nitin Nabin, in an interview with IANS, questioned the rationale and timing of Yadav's bandh.
"Candidates appeared in large numbers for the BPSC examinations. Where was Pappu Yadav when BPSC was manipulated under previous administrations? Today, BPSC functions with transparency and has gained the students' trust. Why protest now? He is merely exploiting the issue for his own benefit," Nabin stated.
"Are there no candidates among you? I have yet to see any candidates protesting in the streets. Pappu Yadav clearly misunderstands the reality; he only seeks to leverage this situation for political gain, hence his politicisation of the matter," the JD-U Minister added.
BJP state president Dilip Jaiswal echoed these sentiments, also directing criticism towards Jan Suraaj Party founder Prashant Kishor.
"Both Pappu Yadav and Prashant Kishor are acting out of desperation. They are aware of their dwindling political prospects, leading them to engage in such inconsequential acts," Jaiswal remarked.
The bandh, which received backing from AIMIM, Bhim Army, and several Left-aligned groups, caused considerable disruption. In Patna, crucial areas like Ashok Rajpath, NIT More, and Dak Bungalow Chauraha faced severe paralysis. Protesters vandalised vehicles, tore down BJP banners, and obstructed metro construction efforts.
Pappu Yadav spearheaded a large procession from Income Tax Chauraha to Dak Bungalow Chauraha. Standing atop a vehicle draped with a cloth that read "Ram Naam Satya," he proclaimed, "BPSC ka Ram Naam Satya ho chuka hai. Sarkar ka Ram Naam Satya karna hai (The failings of the BPSC have come to light, and the government will face the same fate)."
The bandh garnered support from various political factions. Yadav urged opposition leaders, including Tejashwi Yadav, to unite with students and advocate for a transparent examination process.
