New Delhi, March 30 (NationPress) On Monday, leaders from the NDA sharply criticized West Bengal's Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, asserting that her political party is witnessing a significant drop in public favor. They claim she is engaging in political tactics, such as 'playing the victim card', as the elections draw near.

BJP Member of Parliament Praveen Khandelwal remarked to IANS, “It’s evident how Mamata Banerjee has managed West Bengal in the last five years. As her grip on the state wanes, the populace has resolved... Mamata Banerjee’s government is facing removal, and what we see is merely a political ruse…”

JD(U) spokesperson Neeraj Kumar also challenged the Chief Minister’s declarations, contrasting her situation with former leaders. He stated, “Mamata Banerjee is at the helm. If she feels threatened, what does that mean for the ordinary citizens? There are politicians who claim, ‘Our lives are in jeopardy.' However, our political tradition has been different. Indira Gandhi, during her tenure as Prime Minister, openly recognized the risks to her life yet stood firm against terrorism, receiving national support…”

BJP MP Damodar Agarwal accused Banerjee of resorting to emotional tactics, noting, “One can see this behavior when a leader's governance strategy collapses, and the public turns against them; they cling to emotional appeals. The electorate has made up their minds to remove her. That’s why she resorts to such emotional declarations, seeking sympathy and adopting the victim persona.”

Similarly, BJP MP Kamaljeet Sehrawat stated, “This isn’t the first instance. Every time Mamata Banerjee runs for office, she encounters some form of difficulty… I doubt her efforts will succeed this time…”

Uttar Pradesh Minister Anil Rajbhar also criticized the West Bengal CM, asserting, “She is instigating conflict unnecessarily. Those who have disrespected the public for so long are now claiming their dignity…”

Previously, Chief Minister Banerjee rebuked Union Home Minister Amit Shah over his comments regarding the leg injury she sustained while campaigning for the 2021 Assembly elections, hinting at a possible conspiracy against her life.

At a rally for the Trinamool Congress (TMC) in Manbazar, Purulia, the CM criticized HM Shah for the “charge sheet” he issued against her administration on Saturday, saying, “Who are you to file a charge sheet? You should be the one charged.”

HM Shah remarked that CM Banerjee “employs the tactics of the victim card.” He noted, “Sometimes she injures her leg, sometimes she wraps a bandage around her head, other times she falls ill, and occasionally she criticizes the Election Commission (EC). However, the people of Bengal have seen through her victim card strategy,” he asserted.

This exchange of sharp comments highlights the escalating political rivalry in West Bengal as parties amplify their criticisms with the state approaching pivotal elections.
