Patna, Nov 11 (NationPress) The chief of Rashtriya Lok Morcha, Upendra Kushwaha, asserted on Tuesday that the polling for the second and concluding phase of the Bihar Assembly elections is proceeding smoothly across all constituencies, with visible public support for the NDA.
Kushwaha emphasized that the backing for the NDA is particularly pronounced among women voters, who are participating in significant numbers.
He remarked that the early indicators from the second phase are more promising than anticipated, forecasting a robust performance for the NDA.
It’s worth noting that Kushwaha’s wife, Snehlata Kushwaha, is contesting the Sasaram Assembly seat for the first time.
In Gaya Urban, BJP candidate Prem Kumar arrived at his polling booth on a bicycle. Prior to voting, he offered prayers with his wife Parwah Devi at a local temple.
Bihar BJP President Dilip Jaiswal also cast his vote in Kishanganj, stating, "The atmosphere is very positive everywhere. The long lines at booths indicate strong voter enthusiasm. I urge everyone to exercise their right to vote."
Independent MP Rajesh Ranjan, also known as Pappu Yadav, from Purnea, alleged irregularities, claiming that lathi-charges occurred at some polling booths and several EVMs malfunctioned.
"Such actions are unacceptable in a democracy," he remarked, asserting that "the government will be determined by the people of Seemanchal and Kosi."
Meanwhile, Union Minister of State Satish Chandra Dubey voted in Narkatiaganj, Minister Renu Devi in West Champaran, and State Industries Minister Nitish Mishra in Madhubani. BJP MP Sanjay Jaiswal, alongside his wife, also participated in the voting process in Bettiah.
Nitish Mishra is contesting from the Jhanjharpur Assembly constituency.
Polling is currently active in 122 constituencies, comprising 101 general, 19 SC reserved, and 2 ST reserved seats.
A total of 1,302 candidates are competing, including 1,165 men, 136 women, and one third-gender candidate.
According to the Election Commission, there are 3,70,13,556 eligible voters for this round.
Of these, 1,95,56,899 are men, including 5,28,954 new male voters added to the list since SIR.
There are 1,70,68,572 female voters, which includes 4,92,839 new voters.
The third gender voters total 943, with 90 newly registered.
Additionally, 7,69,356 voters fall within the 18–19 age group, marking their first participation in the Assembly elections.
The counting of votes is scheduled for November 14.
