Bhopal, March 8 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Mohan Yadav, officially inaugurated the groundwork for a new international convention centre in Bhopal on Friday.

The upcoming establishment, named Kushabhau Thakre International Convention Centre, is set to rise next to the historic Minto Hall.

This convention centre, managed by the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Department, is projected to cost around Rs 131 crore and is expected to be finished by March 2026.

According to the Chief Minister, "The International Convention Centre will serve as a venue for social, cultural, and economic events, thus fueling the growth narrative of Madhya Pradesh."

The two-story facility will mirror the architectural design of the Minto Hall, with both structures being interconnected.

It will feature an auditorium capable of accommodating over 2,000 attendees, along with lodging and dining facilities.

Moreover, the centre will include a spacious auditorium with a seating capacity exceeding 1,500, a banquet hall that can host over 2,000 guests, a large exhibition area, and a conference hall.

Additional amenities will comprise a media centre, business centre, restaurants, dining areas, galleries, banquet spaces, exhibition halls, and all requisite facilities for an effective convention centre.

The venue will boast a magnificent entrance foyer, a 1,435-seat main hall, along with three smaller halls that can accommodate between 400 to 600 individuals each. The lower ground floor will feature a 1,900-seat dining area, an exhibition venue, and a garden. The first and second floors will house a restaurant, bar, private dining area, business centre, travel desk, private lounges, a medical room, five suites, and ten guest accommodations.

This initiative aims to bolster MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) tourism within the city.

The existing Minto Hall, also referred to as the Kushabhau Thakre Convention Centre, serves as the primary venue for crucial meetings and conferences organized by the state government.

During a visit to Bhopal on February 23, Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a meeting with Madhya Pradesh BJP leaders and ministers in this very venue.
