Key Takeaways
New Delhi, March 2 (NationPress) In a significant development for local education, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta officiated the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Kendriya Vidyalaya building at Khajuri Khas in North-East Delhi. An official announcement confirmed the event took place on Monday.
During the ceremony, she also inaugurated the school's temporary location, ensuring that classes can begin immediately without interruption.
Describing the event as a milestone for Karawal Nagar and the broader North-East Delhi area, the Chief Minister highlighted the longstanding need for enhanced educational facilities, noting that the community has relied heavily on a single Kendriya Vidyalaya until now.
“With the establishment of this new institution, children will no longer need to travel great distances to access quality education, contributing to a more robust academic environment in the area,” she remarked.
The ceremony saw attendance from notable figures including Education Minister Ashish Sood, Tourism Minister Kapil Mishra, and Member of Parliament Manoj Tiwari, along with senior officials from the Education Department and other esteemed guests.
Reflecting on the previous administrations, the Chief Minister expressed concern over the historical state of schools in the region.
Due to insufficient classrooms, students previously attended classes on alternate days, and in some cases, two classes were held in a single room, which negatively impacted learning outcomes, she stated.
Chief Minister Gupta emphasized that, through the unified efforts of the ‘triple-engine government’, various development projects in education, transportation, water supply, sewage systems, flyovers, foot overbridges, hospitals, and other crucial infrastructure are advancing rapidly, with tangible benefits reaching the community.
She expressed optimism regarding the long-term benefits of the new school, asserting that the Kendriya Vidyalaya will deliver education of national standards and establish a solid foundation for future generations.
Gupta reiterated the government’s commitment to providing quality education and upgraded infrastructure for every child, reinforcing the mission to create a Viksit Delhi.
With this new addition, the total number of Kendriya Vidyalayas in Delhi now stands at 47.
This institution will not only deliver quality and affordable education to local students but will also alleviate admission pressures on other schools in North-East Delhi.
Currently, these 47 Kendriya Vidyalayas cater to over 119,000 students across the National Capital.
