New Leadership for Odisha BJP Expected in January 2025

Bhubaneswar, Dec 12 (NationPress) The Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) Odisha division is anticipated to appoint a new President in January of the following year, as stated by the party's state in-charge, Vijaypal Singh Tomar, on Thursday.

Tomar mentioned, "The elections for the booth committees have been finalized, and the establishment of mandal committees will be wrapped up by December 15. Subsequently, the committees at both the district and state levels will be formed. The election for the selection of the State President is expected to take place in the first week of January."

He further emphasized, "Our party is democratic in nature. Even an ordinary party worker has the potential to rise to the position of National President."

The current President of the Odisha BJP, Manmohan Samal, took over the leadership in 2023, succeeding former President and senior leader Sameer Mohanty.

During his tenure, Samal played a pivotal role in the remarkable success of the BJP in the 2024 general elections.

Under his guidance, the party achieved a significant triumph in both the state Assembly and Lok Sabha elections held earlier this year.

This marked the first instance where the party established a government in Odisha independently, securing 78 seats in the 147-member Assembly and winning 20 out of 21 Lok Sabha seats under Samal's leadership.

Despite this success, Samal's defeat in the Chandabali Assembly seat diminished his prospects as a Chief Minister candidate.

In the meantime, addressing speculations regarding the potential influx of leaders from the opposition BJD, the senior BJP leader remarked that numerous senior BJD leaders and MLAs are currently in touch with the party.

Senior BJP leader and Sambalpur MLA Jayanarayan Mishra stated that the party is open to welcoming BJD MLAs and MPs who wish to join the BJP.
