Patna, Aug 19 (NationPress) Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai launched a fierce critique of Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav regarding their ongoing Voter Rights Yatra, claiming they are disrespecting the Constitution and deceiving the citizens of Bihar.
Rai expressed strong disapproval of the rhetoric used by Gandhi during the Yatra, stating, “The language employed by Rahul Gandhi is detrimental to the democracy of our nation.”
He dismissed Tejashwi Yadav’s announcement of Gandhi as the Opposition’s potential prime ministerial candidate for the 2029 Lok Sabha elections, asserting, “Rahul Gandhi’s aspiration of becoming Prime Minister will forever remain just that—an aspiration. He may be a candidate, but he will never be the Prime Minister. Likewise, Tejashwi’s ambition of becoming Chief Minister is equally unattainable, as the populace of Bihar will not endorse him.”
Stressing the importance of merit in leadership, Rai remarked: “Ultimately, the people of our country select only a competent individual for the positions of Prime Minister and Chief Minister. From that viewpoint, neither Rahul Gandhi nor Tejashwi Yadav meets the necessary qualifications.”
In a veiled jab at Gandhi’s tendency to carry a copy of the Constitution during rallies, the Union Minister stated, “Those who parade with a copy of the Constitution should cease from disrespecting it. The citizens of Bihar and the entire nation are observing how Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav profess to uphold the Constitution while simultaneously belittling it. Such disrespect will never be tolerated by Bihar or the country.”
Drawing on historical context, Rai reminded that it was the Congress Party that enforced the Emergency and effectively “murdered the Constitution.”
He stated, “All of Bihar witnessed how Jananayak Jayaprakash Narayan rallied against the Congress and dismantled Indira Gandhi’s government. Today, that same Congress is lecturing us on democracy and the Constitution—this is nothing short of hypocrisy.”
Focusing on Lalu Prasad Yadav and Tejashwi, Rai questioned their collaboration with Congress: “The RJD claims to be the successor of JP’s movement. The same JP who rallied against the assassination of democracy by Congress. Did individuals risk their lives in the Sampoorna Kranti merely for leaders like Lalu Yadav to become subservient to Congress? Tejashwi Yadav, the citizens of Bihar are asking you—please respond.”
Rai concluded by demanding transparency from RJD: “During the Voter Rights Yatra, Tejashwi must clarify whether he stands with the citizens of Bihar in support of democracy and the Constitution, or with Rahul Gandhi and Congress, who hold a history of undermining both.”
