NMDFC Allocates Over ₹9,228 Crore to 24.84 Lakh Beneficiaries, Predominantly Women

New Delhi, Dec 28 (NationPress) The National Minorities Development and Finance Corporation (NMDFC) has allocated over ₹9,228.19 crore, impacting more than 24.84 lakh beneficiaries since its inception, with over 85 percent of these beneficiaries being women, the government announced on Saturday.
NMDFC operates under the Ministry of Minority Affairs and was established to foster socio-economic development among the underprivileged segments of minority communities.
In the fiscal year 2023-24, NMDFC disbursed concessional credit amounting to ₹765.45 crore, reaching more than 1.84 lakh beneficiaries.
To streamline loan accounting processes, NMDFC introduced the MILAN (Minority Loan Accounting Software for NMDFC) app, which digitizes interactions among applicants, SCAs, and NMDFC, and integrates the MIS portal with data on 14.57 lakh beneficiaries.
The MILAN Mobile app is now available on both Android and iOS platforms, as stated by the ministry.
Recently, Union Bank of India, Indian Bank, and Punjab Gramin Bank signed memorandums of understanding (MoUs) to implement NMDFC schemes using a refinance model.
As part of its 100-day action plan, the ministry hosted the 'Lok Samvardhan Parv' in July, which gathered minority artisans from all over India, providing a platform for them to display their unique arts, crafts, and cultural heritage.
The event featured over 70 remarkable handicraft and handloom products from various states, crafted by 162 artisans from different minority communities.
Additionally, the 'Haj Suvidha App' was launched to utilize information technology for improving the pilgrimage experience. This year, more than 9,000 grievances and over 2,000 SOS cases were addressed, with 4,557 female pilgrims marking the highest participation to date.
The 'Jiyo Parsi' initiative aims to counter the population decline of the Parsi community, which was launched in 2013-14. The ministry has also set up a portal for Parsi couples seeking financial assistance for medical needs.
In August, the ministry introduced the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024 in the Lok Sabha, which has since been referred to a Joint Committee of Parliament (JPC).
