Prayagraj, May 20 (NationPress) In a significant stride towards modernising and enhancing India's railway infrastructure to meet global benchmarks, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will conduct a virtual inauguration of 103 revamped railway stations nationwide on May 22 as part of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.
Among the stations set for this inauguration, nine prominent stations within the North Central Railway zone, including Karchana railway station in the Prayagraj division, are poised to undergo a contemporary transformation and gain a new identity.
The Amrit Bharat Station Scheme is designed to equip railway stations across India with cutting-edge passenger facilities, improved safety measures, and enhanced technical abilities, while also emphasizing aesthetic improvements.
Karchana station has now become a modern railway hub, anticipated to play a crucial role in regional development and passenger ease. In addition to Karchana, the other stations in the zone have been upgraded to include world-class amenities.
In a statement to IANS, CPRO Prayagraj Shashikant Tripathi confirmed that on May 22, Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate the 103 Amrit Bharat stations via video conference. He noted that the foundation stones for these redevelopments were laid by the Prime Minister a few years back. The new features include circulating areas, parking zones, 12-metre-wide foot overbridges (FOBs), modern restrooms, and accessibility options for passengers with disabilities.
The nine North Central Railway stations included in this initiative are:
Karchana, Govindpuri, Fatehabad, Mahwa Mandawar Road, Idgah, Govindgarh, Govardhan, Pukhrayan, and Orchha.
A total investment of approximately Rs 90 crore has been allocated for the beautification and infrastructure enhancement of these stations. Noteworthy stations like Govardhan and Orchha possess religious and tourism significance, while Govindpuri station is being developed as a satellite terminal to alleviate congestion at Kanpur Central.
Tripathi highlighted that this initiative concentrates not only on major stations but also on revitalizing smaller stations into fully-equipped, appealing facilities — a vision set to be realized on May 22.
