Speaking on the commemoration of one year since the launch of Operation Sindoor on 7 May, President Murmu paid tribute to the armed forces. 'That historic operation against terrorism demonstrated the capability of Indian armed forces to act with precision,' she said. 'It sent a clear and firm message to terrorists and those who support them that no matter where they hide, they will have to face the consequences of their actions.'

The address underscored India's posture of zero tolerance toward cross-border terrorism, framing the military operation as a demonstration of both precision and political resolve.

Indus Waters Treaty Suspension Called a Decisive Step

Referring to the government's move to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty, the President said: 'Suspension of the Treaty with a country that harbours terrorism is a decisive step in the interest of our nation, especially the farmers.' The suspension of the decades-old water-sharing agreement with Pakistan marks one of the most significant diplomatic shifts in recent bilateral history, with direct implications for agricultural water security in border states.

End of Maoism and Inclusive Development

President Murmu also highlighted the near-elimination of Maoist insurgency as a major national achievement, pointing to the wave of inclusive development now taking root in erstwhile rebel strongholds. She cited the Bastar Olympics as a symbol of this transformation, noting that a large number of sportspersons participated and many artists showcased their talent at the event.

Sports Ecosystem and Jan Bhagidari

The President praised the growth of India's sports ecosystem, crediting the Khelo India initiative and government investment for what she described as 'a remarkable leap in performance in international events.' She also invoked the concept of Jan Bhagidari — public participation — as a living tradition, saying citizens are actively driving national welfare campaigns.
