New Delhi, Aug 4 (NationPress) During a spirited session in the Delhi Assembly on Operation Sindoor and Operation Mahadev, tensions flared between the ruling BJP and opposition AAP, with Power Minister Ashish Sood spearheading the commendation of the military success achieved under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Sood, along with numerous BJP members, asserted that the triumph of the two operations has revealed the true colors of those who doubted the armed forces and intelligence agencies.
Before the debate, Speaker Vijender Gupta read a statement congratulating the armed forces and the Central government for the successful operations.
“Chief Whip Abhay Verma has also filed a notice for a congratulatory motion. I now invite him to express his thoughts,” he stated.
While members from the treasury benches praised the Central government for its support of the armed forces and increases in the Defence budget, opposition members from AAP questioned the rationale behind the ceasefire and the lack of action to reclaim Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
In recognition of the armed forces and the Prime Minister for avenging the Pahalgam terror attack, Sood criticized the Opposition for focusing on the losses of fighter jets incurred during the conflict.
Quoting international defense analysts on India’s “decisive victory” and establishing a “new standard in anti-terror operations,” Sood took aim at the Opposition for their criticisms of the government's actions that successfully dismantled terror hubs in Pakistan, damaging 11 out of 12 airbases in the neighboring nation.
“I want to convey the joy of Delhi citizens, alongside that of the entire nation, over the successful implementation of these operations,” stated Sood.
He emphasized that these operations were crucial from three perspectives: asserting India’s command in modern warfare, showcasing the IAF's strength, and highlighting the capabilities of Make in India armaments.
Tourism Minister Kapil Mishra claimed that while our armed forces were neutralizing terrorists, Opposition members were lamenting the casualties in Pakistan.
AAP legislator Kuldeep Kumar raised concerns about the timing of the ceasefire. “When we were poised to reclaim PoK, why was the operation halted? Who compelled India to cease?”
BJP MLA Tarvinder Singh Marwah commended PM Modi’s leadership for the success of both operations, remarking, “Our armed forces penetrated enemy territory. No Prime Minister has ever dared to undertake such an action.”
“On behalf of myself and this entire assembly, I extend heartfelt congratulations and express sincere gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and all the armed forces, security personnel, and intelligence agencies involved in these operations. Their meticulous planning and execution led to the triumph of these missions. This assembly honors the bravery and sacrifice of Indian soldiers and lauds the contributions of our nation’s armed forces and security services.
BJP legislators Abhey Kumar Verma and Anil Kumar Sharma also praised the two operations and criticized the Opposition for failing to commend the armed forces and showing leniency towards Pakistan and terrorists.
Earlier, Speaker Gupta, in his statement, remarked: “On behalf of myself and this entire assembly, I extend heartfelt congratulations and express deep gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and all the armed forces, security personnel, and intelligence agencies involved in these operations.”
“Their meticulous planning and execution led to the success of these missions. This assembly salutes the valor and sacrifice of Indian soldiers and commends the contributions of our nation’s armed forces and security services,” he concluded.
