New Delhi, Aug 4 (NationPress) On the inaugural day of the Delhi Assembly's Monsoon Session, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta led the assembly in honoring the armed forces and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the successful execution of Operation Sindoor and Operation Mahadev. This celebration came amidst critiques from Opposition AAP members, who raised questions about the rationale behind the ceasefire during the cross-border operations.
The motion to express gratitude towards the Prime Minister, Home Minister, and the armed forces for these operations sparked intense exchanges between the ruling and Opposition parties, culminating in AAP MLA Sanjeev Jha being expelled for an inappropriate remark.
CM Gupta expressed her sincere appreciation for the Indian armed forces and the Prime Minister for the successful outcomes of Operation Sindoor and Operation Mahadev. She urged the Assembly to join her in chanting ‘Har Har Mahadev’ to honor the last Monday of the holy month of Sawan.
She emphasized that these operations were not merely military actions but represented the honor and dignity of every Indian household.
The Chief Minister reflected on India’s military accomplishments, national security strategies, and crucial decisions in the modern era.
She regarded the success of these missions as a moment of national pride and paid homage to the bravery and commitment of the Indian armed forces.
CM Gupta commended PM Modi for his decisive and dynamic leadership, which has preserved the dignity and self-respect of Indian women.
She strongly criticized the Opposition, accusing them of consistently neglecting national interests and attempting to tarnish the country’s reputation.
“Before PM Modi’s government took charge, stones were hurled daily in the Kashmir Valley, and we faced continuous violence, leading to India being defamed at every turn. Yet, the Congress party never accepted responsibility and remained silent during the massacres and exodus of Kashmiri Pandits,” she stated, directly addressing the Congress-led UPA.
“Operation Sindoor was a response to all the tears shed by our sisters, a reaction to the anguish of mothers mourning their sons. It was more than military action; it was about honoring every martyred soldier’s family, executed under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Modi...” she articulated.
Before the debate commenced, Speaker Vijender Gupta read a statement congratulating the armed forces and the Central government for the two operations.
Power Minister Ashish Sood stated that these operations signify a new standard in counter-terrorism measures.
Sood and numerous BJP members underscored that the success of the operations revealed the flaws in doubting the armed forces and intelligence agencies, commending the Central government for enhancing support to the military and increasing the Defence budget.
He criticized the Opposition for focusing on the losses of fighter jets in the conflict.
Referencing foreign defense analysts praising India’s “decisive victory” in the war and establishing a “new benchmark in anti-terror operations,” Sood condemned the Opposition for their critiques regarding the government’s actions that dismantled terror bases in Pakistan, damaging 11 out of 12 airbases.
He pointed out that the operations were significant for three reasons: asserting India's authority in modern warfare, showcasing the Indian Air Force's superior power, and highlighting the capabilities of Make in India weapons.
Tourism Minister Kapil Mishra claimed that “while our armed forces eliminated terrorists, members of the Opposition were lamenting the casualties on the Pakistani side.”
AAP legislator Kuldeep Kumar questioned the rationale behind the ceasefire's timing: “When we were about to reclaim PoK, the Operation was halted. Who compelled India to cease operations?”
Other AAP representatives also challenged the logic of the ceasefire and the decision not to reclaim Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
BJP MLA Tarvinder Singh Marwah praised PM Modi’s leadership for the successful operations, stating, “Our armed forces penetrated enemy territory. No Prime Minister has ever dared to do this.”
BJP legislators Abhey Kumar Verma and Anil Kumar Sharma also commended the two operations and criticized the Opposition parties for failing to honor the armed forces and showing leniency towards Pakistan and terrorism.
