New Delhi, May 9 (NationPress) Amidst the ongoing ‘Operation Sindoor’, Prime Minister Narendra Modi convened a critical meeting with key defense figures including Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, and the chiefs of the armed forces along with senior officials.

The Prime Minister’s Office shared on social media platform X, stating, “PM Narendra Modi led a meeting, which included Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, NSA Ajit Doval, CDS General Anil Chauhan, the Chiefs of the Armed Forces, and other senior officials.”

In addition to outlining future strategies, PM Modi reportedly addressed the persistent ceasefire violations by Pakistan in regions along the Line of Control and the border.

The Prime Minister's dialogue with military leaders included an extensive discussion with veterans, including former chiefs of the Air Force, Army, and Navy, as per sources.

Earlier, the Indian Armed Forces briefed the media regarding Pakistan's airspace violations on Thursday night and the robust countermeasures from the Indian side.

Colonel Sofiya Qureshi reported that Pakistan's army deployed approximately 300-400 drones on the nights of May 8 and May 9, targeting around 36 locations along the Western border. These drones are believed to be of Turkish origin, although concrete evidence is still pending.

“The potential aim of such extensive aerial incursions was to infiltrate Indian territory, test India's air defense capabilities, and gather intelligence,” remarked Wing Commander Vyomika Singh during a special press briefing by the Ministry of External Affairs on 'Operation Sindoor'.

On Thursday night, Pakistan launched drone and missile attacks on several cities, including military sites, but all were effectively thwarted by India's strong air defense system, which left the Pakistani Army in a state of disarray.

Women officers from the Indian Armed Forces indicated that a forensic analysis of the drone debris is underway; preliminary findings suggest they are Turkish Asisguard Songar drones.

Colonel Sofiya Qureshi emphasized, “On the nights of May 7 and 8, the Pakistani army repeatedly violated Indian airspace across the Western border with the aim of hitting military infrastructure. They also unleashed heavy-caliber weaponry along the Line of Control. However, all their efforts were neutralized by our forces using both kinetic and non-kinetic methods.”

India initiated 'Operation Sindoor' targeting terrorist camps across the Line of Control and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in retaliation for a deadly terrorist strike in Pahalgam on April 22 that resulted in the deaths of 26 individuals.
