Bengaluru, April 22 (NationPress) Pallavi, a tourist who tragically lost her husband Manjunath during a terrorist attack targeting tourists in Pahalgam, Kashmir, recounted her harrowing ordeal on Tuesday.

She disclosed that she and her 18-year-old son confronted the attacker, begging to be killed along with Manjunath.

However, the assailant allegedly told them that he would spare their lives and instructed them to inform Prime Minister Narendra Modi about the incident.

In a phone interview with a respected Kannada media outlet, Pallavi expressed, "We are in Pahalgam, and my husband died right in front of me. I couldn’t cry or react -- I couldn’t even grasp what had just transpired. I had come here with my husband Manjunath and our son Abhijeya from Karnataka's Shivamogga.

“I was with my car driver, who is a kind man. He informed me that Hindus were being targeted. Three others, who repeatedly said ‘Bismillah’, assisted us in reaching safety. I want my husband's body to be airlifted. We all should return together," she added.

"I noticed that there were three to four attackers. After my husband was shot, I confronted one of the terrorists and exclaimed, 'Mere pati ko mara hai na, mujhe bhi maaro' (You’ve killed my husband, kill me too). My son also faced him, stating, 'Kutte, mere papa ko maara, humein bhi maar daalo' (You dog, you killed my father, kill us too)," she recounted.

"The terrorist responded, 'Nahin marenge. Tum Modi ko jaake bolo' (I won’t kill you. Go and tell Modi)," Pallavi shared.

Further describing the scene, she said, "The attackers were directly in front of us. They were not in military uniforms. Most of the men were targeted. Many newlywed couples were present, and in most instances, only the husbands were attacked while women and others were spared. Hindus were specifically targeted. Approximately 500 tourists were there at the time."

"We had arrived on horseback. My son hadn’t eaten anything since the morning, so my husband went to get him some bread. Initially, we heard gunfire and assumed it was the army firing. Then people began to flee. I saw my husband had collapsed, lying in a pool of blood. He had been shot in the head. I sat beside his body, unable to respond," she continued.

"I want to return to my hometown, Shivamogga, but not alone. I will only go back with my husband’s body. All three of us must return together. I urge the authorities to make the necessary arrangements," Pallavi stated.

The family had embarked on a trip to Kashmir on April 19, with plans to return on April 24.

Manjunath's family is devastated in Shivamogga.

Manjunath's mother remains unaware of her son’s death.

She has been told that Manjunath is injured and will return safely soon.

Manjunath was a realtor, while his wife Pallavi is a bank manager.
