Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Patna, Feb 21 (NationPress) Following his meeting with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Rajesh Ranjan, commonly referred to as Pappu Yadav, the Lok Sabha MP representing Purnea, released an extensive statement recounting his distressing experience after an alleged arrest and called for the Speaker's intervention.
In his statement, Pappu Yadav indicated that during their discussion in New Delhi, he informed the Speaker about the incidents that took place on February 6, providing supporting documentation, and urged him to acknowledge what he described as a serious and critical issue.
“We met with Om Birla, Lok Sabha Speaker, and briefed him on the entire February 6 incident, along with evidence, requesting appropriate action,” Yadav remarked.
The MP claimed that late in the evening, around 9:30 p.m., his home in Patna was invaded without a warrant.
“A group of politicians, senior officers from Patna Police, and an alleged cell inspector raided my home as if I were a fugitive. At midnight, surrounded by hundreds of policemen, I was taken into custody without being informed of any charges against me,” he alleged.
Yadav further alleged that despite his declining health, his plea for house arrest was turned down.
“My arrest was executed in blatant violation of the privileges accorded to a Member of Parliament and the Supreme Court's directives,” he stated.
Describing the events following his detention, Yadav claimed he was transported to Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS) in the middle of the night, where he was reportedly kept on a stretcher in the lobby for several hours.
“The treatment I received from the police was grossly inhumane,” he alleged.
He further claimed that the next day, despite a court order, he was denied adequate medical care at Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) and was “hurriedly dispatched” to Beur Jail in collusion with the police and local administration.
Yadav mentioned that he is presently receiving medical treatment in Delhi.
He asserted that no serious criminal cases are pending against him, stating, “There are no criminal charges against me except those related to protests and the electoral code. Nevertheless, there has been a concerted attempt to frame me and silence my voice.”
He alleged that the actions taken against him were intended to prevent him from speaking out on a sensitive issue involving a NEET aspirant, where he claimed police, mafia, and influential individuals were being implicated for alleged collusion.
“This was orchestrated to silence my calls for justice. In a democratic society, conspiracies to stifle a public representative's voice must be addressed rigorously,” he declared.
In closing, Pappu Yadav expressed his continued faith in the judiciary and the populace but emphasized the urgency for decisive action.
“I emerged from jail with trust in the judiciary and the people. Now, resolute justice is essential against these ongoing conspiracies,” he concluded.
