PM Modi Celebrates Christmas at Union Minister George Kurian's Residence

New Delhi, Dec 19 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi joined the Christmas celebrations at the residence of Union Minister George Kurian on Thursday evening, where he interacted with distinguished members of the Christian community, showcasing the importance of cultural inclusivity and joy.

This gathering served as an opportunity for PM Modi to connect with key figures from the Christian community, affirming the government's dedication to strengthening relationships with this religious group.

In a message shared on the social media platform X, PM Modi noted: "Attended the Christmas celebrations at the residence of Union Minister George Kurian Ji. Also interacted with eminent members of the Christian community @GeorgekurianBjp."

Previously, on June 9, Kerala BJP unit General Secretary George Kurian was appointed as a Union minister in the third Narendra Modi government.

Originating from Kerala's Kottayam, Kurian is recognized as a straightforward BJP leader, known for his gentle demeanor and popularity as a BJP spokesperson on television news.

He began his political journey as a student activist with the Janata Party’s student wing in 1977 and joined the BJP in 1980, remaining with the party ever since.

In 2017, Kurian was designated as the Vice-Chairman of the National Minorities Commission.

While based in Kottayam, he has also worked in Delhi, serving as the officer on special duty to then-Minister of State for Railways O. Rajagopal during the Atal Bihari Vajpayee administration from 1999 to 2004.

His ministerial role is viewed as a strategic outreach to the Christian community.

For Christians, Jesus is esteemed as the Son of God, whose teachings and sacrifices have profoundly impacted humanity's spiritual journey.

Christmas holds immense religious and cultural significance for Christians, commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ, who is believed to have come to save mankind.

His teachings emphasized the values of sacrifice, love, and compassion.

Christians believe that the birth of Jesus transformed the world, replacing greed and malevolence with joy and hope.

Christmas is also an occasion to reflect on the sacrifices made by Jesus, particularly his crucifixion and resurrection. Celebrations typically include carol singing, religious services, and prayers.
