PM Modi Denounces Despicable Terror Attack in New Orleans

New Delhi, Jan 2 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi unequivocally denounced the appalling New Year's Day terrorist attack in New Orleans that has tragically claimed the lives of at least 15 individuals and left approximately three dozen others injured.
"We firmly condemn this despicable act of terrorism in New Orleans. Our prayers and thoughts are with those affected and their families. We hope they find the strength and comfort needed to recover from this heartbreaking incident," PM Modi shared on X.
A troubling series of violent events has shaken the United States, with the New Orleans incident now classified as a terrorist act.
The assailant, identified as 42-year-old Shamsud-Din Jabbar, deliberately drove a pick-up truck into a gathering of celebrants on Bourbon Street in the French Quarter on New Year’s Day, resulting in a scene of chaos.
Jabbar, a US citizen hailing from Texas, was reported to have displayed a black ISIS flag from the back of his vehicle.
New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell condemned the incident, while President Joe Biden conveyed his condolences to the victims and their families, pledging federal assistance. “My heart is with the victims and their families who were merely celebrating the holiday,” Biden stated.
“Violence of any form is unjustifiable, and we will not accept any attacks against our nation's communities.” The FBI is now leading the investigation into the assault, with support from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Justice Department’s National Security Division, and local law enforcement.
President-elect Donald Trump also expressed his sorrow regarding the tragedy, offering condolences to victims and first responders. “Our hearts are with all innocent victims and their families, including the courageous officers of the New Orleans Police Department,” Trump remarked in a post on TruthSocial.
The New Orleans attack was succeeded by an explosion involving a Tesla Cybertruck outside the Trump Las Vegas hotel, resulting in one fatality, and a mass shooting at Amazura nightclub in Queens, New York, early Thursday that injured at least 11 individuals.
US authorities are actively investigating the motives behind these violent occurrences.
