Noida, March 28 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during an event on Saturday, acknowledged the vital contributions of farmers in initiating what he termed a "new era of progress" in Uttar Pradesh. He emphasized their significance in ethanol production, which he believes has provided significant relief to the nation amidst a time of global uncertainty.

While inaugurating Phase 1 of the Noida International Airport in Jewar, Uttar Pradesh, the Prime Minister highlighted the transformative effect of enhanced connectivity on the agricultural economy of the region.

"The modern connectivity advancements occurring here will further bolster food processing capabilities in western Uttar Pradesh. Agricultural products from this area will now have improved access to international markets," PM Modi stated during his address to a large audience at the event.

He expressed his appreciation to the farmers for their role in the nation's ethanol production, saying, "I want to extend my gratitude to farmers for another crucial reason. The ethanol generated from your sugarcane has significantly decreased our reliance on crude oil."

"The dedication of our farmers has provided the nation with tremendous relief during this global crisis," he remarked, referencing the economic advantages associated with increased ethanol blending.

PM Modi also noted that without the growth of ethanol production and its integration with petrol, India would have faced the necessity to import nearly 45 million barrels of crude oil each year, which equates to about seven billion liters.

He recognized the farmers' role in facilitating the airport project by offering their land. "Agriculture is integral to this region's economy. Today, I want to give special thanks to my farmer brothers and sisters who made this project possible by providing their land," he mentioned.

Reinforcing the continuity of development despite global challenges, PM Modi stated that India has sustained its growth trajectory. He pointed out that several significant infrastructure initiatives have been launched or inaugurated in western Uttar Pradesh in recent weeks.

He highlighted the foundation stone laying for a semiconductor factory in Noida, advancements in the Delhi–Meerut Namo Bharat train project, the expansion of the Meerut Metro, and the inauguration of the Noida International Airport as notable achievements accomplished in a brief period.

"This demonstrates that even in trying times, India’s development journey is progressing with speed and determination. All these projects exemplify the efforts of the double-engine government towards Uttar Pradesh's advancement," he asserted.

The Prime Minister also discussed the implications of the UDAN scheme, mentioning that in recent years, over 1.7 crore citizens have benefited from affordable air travel through this initiative.

He added that under the expanded UDAN scheme, there are plans to establish 100 new small airports and 200 new heliports across smaller towns, with Uttar Pradesh set to gain considerable advantages from this expansion.

PM Modi stated that India's aviation sector is experiencing rapid growth and expansion.

"As new airports continue to emerge across the nation, the demand for new aircraft is also surging. Hence, various airlines in India have placed orders for hundreds of new aircraft," he explained.

He concluded by indicating that the introduction of these new facilities and aircraft will result in a substantial demand for skilled labor including pilots, crew members, ground staff, service personnel, and maintenance experts.

"This creates a significant opportunity for the youth. Considering this, our government is also enhancing training facilities in the aviation sector to prepare young individuals for these job opportunities," he added.
