New Delhi, Dec 7 (NationPress) - In a significant move, the Union Cabinet, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Friday gave the green light to the Rithala-Narela-Nathupur (Kundli) corridor as part of the Delhi Metro Phase-IV. On Saturday, PM Modi took to social media platform X to convey the government's unwavering commitment to enhancing connectivity throughout the nation.
In his post, he stated, “We are dedicated to improving connectivity across the country. Our government has approved the Rithala-Kundli corridor under the fourth phase of Delhi Metro in the National Capital Region. This will facilitate easier commuting between Delhi and Haryana.”
The new corridor stretches over 26.463 kilometres and is set to greatly enhance connectivity between the national capital and Haryana.
This project is expected to be completed within four years from the approval date, with an estimated budget of Rs. 6,230 crore. The execution of the project will be carried out by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited (DMRC), which functions as a 50:50 Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) for both the Government of India (GoI) and the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi (GNCTD).
With this extension, the operational Red Line will be expanded from Shaheed Sthal (New Bus Adda) to Rithala, significantly enhancing connectivity in northwestern Delhi, including areas like Narela, Bawana, and various parts of Rohini. A total of 21 elevated stations will be part of this new line.
Upon completion, the Rithala–Narela–Nathupur corridor will connect the Shaheed Sthal New Bus Adda station in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, with Nathupur in Haryana, thereby improving connectivity across the entire National Capital Region (NCR).
This Phase-IV extension aims to expand the reach of the Delhi Metro network within the NCR, fostering economic growth. The new corridor is designed to ease road congestion and subsequently lower pollution levels induced by vehicle traffic.
The line will comprise 21 elevated stations including Rithala, Rohini Sector 25, Rohini Sector 26, Rohini Sector 31, Rohini Sector 32, Rohini Sector 36, Barwala, various sectors in the Bawana Industrial Area, Sanoth, New Sanoth, the Depot Station, Bhorgarh village, Anaj Mandi Narela, Narela DDA Sports Complex, Narela, Narela Sector 5, Kundli, and Nathpur.
Furthermore, this corridor marks the fourth extension of the Delhi Metro into Haryana, following existing services to Gurugram, Ballabhgarh, and Bahadurgarh.
