New Delhi, March 18 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday praised the successful execution of the Maha Kumbh in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj, which saw the involvement of over 66 crore devotees.

He expressed his appreciation to the populace, stressing that through the principle of ‘Sabka Prayas’ (everyone’s effort), India has showcased an extraordinary example of unity to the globe.

While addressing the Lok Sabha, PM Modi stated, "Today, through this House, I bow down to the millions of countrymen who played a vital role in the successful organization of the Maha Kumbh. I extend my heartfelt thanks to all government officials, social workers, the citizens of Uttar Pradesh, and especially the residents of Prayagraj."

Reflecting on the significance of the event, he compared it to the legendary endeavor of bringing the Ganga to Earth.

"Just as a monumental effort was made to bring Gangaji to Earth, we witnessed a similar collective effort in organizing this magnificent Maha Kumbh. I had highlighted ‘Sabka Prayas’ from the Red Fort, and the world has now seen India’s capabilities. I thank the people of Prayagraj for contributing to this event’s global success," he remarked.

The Prime Minister emphasized the event’s impact on reinforcing national consciousness.

"The Maha Kumbh has delivered a robust answer to the doubts and suspicions some may harbor about us. Last year, during the Pran Pratistha of the Ram Temple, we sensed that India was gearing up for the next thousand years. Now, exactly a year later, the Maha Kumbh has fortified this belief."

Citing the Bhakti Movement and its influence on India’s spiritual awareness, PM Modi referenced figures such as Swami Vivekananda, Mahatma Gandhi, Bhagat Singh, and Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, whose contributions were pivotal in achieving the country’s independence.

"I view the Maha Kumbh as an extension of this sentiment, a reflection of a nation becoming increasingly self-aware. For over one-and-a-half months, thousands of devotees, disregarding personal comfort, engaged with unparalleled enthusiasm. This is our strength," he noted.

PM Modi also pointed out the international recognition of the event, sharing that he transported the holy water from the Triveni Sangam to Mauritius during a recent diplomatic visit.

"The excitement and joy of the Maha Kumbh were not limited to India but resonated even in Mauritius, where I had the honor of gifting the sacred water," he added.

Recognizing the contribution of the youth in the festival’s success, he remarked, "India's youth are embracing our traditions with pride. The Maha Kumbh has reinforced the ‘Amrit of unity’ -- the most significant takeaway from this event."

He further elaborated on how the festival strengthens national unity.

"When individuals from every corner of the country unite at the Maha Kumbh, it bolsters our national spirit. There was no distinction between big or small, demonstrating that unity is deeply embedded in India. In a world filled with divisions, India stands as a brilliant example of unity in diversity," he stated.

PM Modi concluded by urging people to maintain and promote this spirit of unity. "It is our joint responsibility to sustain and nurture this feeling of oneness, which is our greatest strength."
