New Delhi, Jan 28 (NationPress) A dedicated center for the PM Vishwakarma Scheme has been established at the ongoing Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, where individuals can receive information about the scheme and assistance to access its benefits.
This initiative has drawn a consistent influx of visitors who come to discover the scheme and other governmental welfare initiatives.
Deepak Kumar Bind, a beneficiary of the PM Vishwakarma Scheme, recounted his experience and the advantages he has gained. He is from the Hadiya Tehsil in Prayagraj district and highlighted how advantageous the scheme has been for those in search of employment.
"The government has introduced this remarkable scheme, which aids individuals in securing livelihoods. The scheme comprises 18 different components, and the government extends financial support to help us establish small businesses, even if we lack the means for a large-scale venture," he stated.
Deepak discovered the scheme through an intermediary and applied online with the intention of starting carpentry work. The application process is segmented into three phases, of which two have been finalized, and he is awaiting the final phase to access the benefits of the scheme.
Deepak elaborated on the scheme’s process, stating, "Our verification occurs in three stages. Once this is completed, we are invited for a five-day training program, for which we receive Rs 500 daily. Following the training, the government supplies us with a tool kit valued at Rs 15,000. Furthermore, the government offers a loan of Rs 1 lakh to assist us in starting our business. This scheme is genuinely advantageous for us, particularly the underprivileged. PM Modi’s initiatives are consistently impactful, but this one particularly excels in providing special support to the disadvantaged."
Sanjay Kumar, the Assistant Director of MSME, Prayagraj, mentioned that the PM Vishwakarma Scheme is being promoted at the MSME pavilion at the Mahakumbh. "The primary goal is to identify Vishwakarma artisans and craftspeople through a verification process. Upon identification, they receive a certificate, training, and a stipend. The government also supplies them with a tool kit and a loan to aid their businesses’ growth," he stated.
Sanjay Kumar further noted that on average, 100 to 200 individuals visit the center daily to learn about the scheme. With increasing awareness, it is anticipated that this number will continue to grow in the upcoming days.
Launched on September 17, 2023, the PM Vishwakarma Scheme aims to deliver extensive support to artisans and craftspeople involved in traditional occupations such as blacksmiths, goldsmiths, potters, carpenters, sculptors, and more.
This initiative is crafted to enhance their skills, provide tools, and offer financial backing to help them expand their businesses and elevate their livelihoods.
