Hyderabad, April 14 (NationPress) Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC K. Kavitha has accused the police of brutally stripping, humiliating, and arresting Dalits in Kamareddy district on the occasion of Ambedkar's birth anniversary.

She expressed her disapproval on social media regarding the incident that took place in Lingampet mandal.

“The unthinkable violence against Dalits on Ambedkar Jayanti is a disgraceful reflection of governance. Is this how Dr. Ambedkar's Constitution is upheld, or is it merely CM Revanth Reddy’s personal handbook?” questioned the Telangana Legislative Council member.

“In Lingampet Mandal, Kamareddy, police stripped, humiliated, and arrested Dalits for what? Simply for displaying banners for Ambedkar Jayanti? The police behaved like lawless mobs instead of public servants. What kind of police feel empowered to act in such a manner unless they are shielded from repercussions? This is not merely brutality; this is a hate crime,” Kavitha remarked, who is the daughter of BRS President and former chief minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.

“I vehemently condemn this inhumane act. I demand: - Immediate suspension of the officers involved - Filing of SC/ST Atrocity cases against those responsible without delay - A public apology from the government. This is not about law and order; this is about targeted oppression. We will not allow any attacked voice to be silenced,” the BRS leader asserted.

Meanwhile, police attempted to prevent Kavitha from visiting the 125-feet statue of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar in Hyderabad to pay her respects on his birth anniversary.

Kavitha, along with several other BRS leaders, sat down on the ground and raised slogans of ‘Jai Bhim’ after being halted by the police.

The protest caused minor tensions at the statue located near the state Secretariat. Eventually, the police permitted the BRS leaders to access the first floor of the structure.

Speaking to reporters, Kavitha accused Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy of disrespecting Ambedkar by not visiting the statue.

The MLC noted that the Chief Minister and his Cabinet members did not visit the statue on Ambedkar's birth and death anniversaries simply because it was installed by former chief minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.

“Just because KCR installed the statue, the Chief Minister and his Cabinet have failed to pay tribute to Ambedkar. They have shown disrespect towards Ambedkar and the statue that stands in the city’s heart,” she stated.

Kavitha mentioned that after two years of advocacy and demands from various community members, the Cabinet finally visited the Ambedkar statue on Monday, but regrettably, the Chief Minister did not attend.

“He may not favor KCR, but he should not disregard Ambedkar’s magnificent statue,” she concluded.
