Hyderabad, April 14 (NationPress) The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has called upon the Congress party to apologize for deceiving Telangana’s Dalit community by not delivering on its promises.
On the occasion of Bharat Ratna Dr B.R. Ambedkar’s birth anniversary, BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao, alongside senior party officials, paid respects by presenting floral tributes at Dr Ambedkar’s portrait at the party headquarters, Telangana Bhavan.
During his speech, Rama Rao insisted that the Congress party, including prominent figures such as Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, and Rahul Gandhi, must publicly apologize to the people of Telangana for misleading the Dalit community with unfulfilled commitments.
The much-publicized SC Declaration from Congress, revealed during the election campaign, has turned out to be a mere facade, with not a single promise realized, he stated. “The SC Declaration has utterly failed, and the AICC leadership must provide an explanation to the citizens of the state for this severe injustice,” asserted KTR, as he is commonly known.
The former minister specifically raised questions regarding significant pledges made in the Chevella Declaration. “What has become of the Rs 12 lakh Dalit Bandhu scheme intended to uplift Dalit families? Where is the Rs 6 lakh grant for Dalits to build homes? Why have the pattas for assigned lands not been distributed as promised? What is the status of the assured 28 percent share in contracts for Dalits and tribals? What happened to the financial incentives pledged under the Vidyajyothi scheme for Dalits?” he queried.
KTR accused Chief Minister Revanth Reddy of orchestrating this deception, claiming that Congress brought in AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge to announce these promises because “nobody trusts Revanth Reddy’s words.”
“The people of Telangana placed their trust in Kharge’s assurances and voted for Congress, only to be deceived. Kharge must account for this betrayal,” stated the BRS leader. Reflecting on Congress’ governance, KTR noted that it feels like “voting once is a five-year punishment for the people of Telangana.”
He expressed disappointment that Dr Ambedkar’s Constitution did not include a recall mechanism to hold fraudulent leaders accountable, stating, “If elections were held today, Congress would be swept away in a people’s tsunami due to its transgressions.”
KTR also commended Dr Ambedkar’s unparalleled contributions to the Constitution of India, recognizing his foresight in tackling issues like delimitation and ensuring safeguards for marginalized groups. He underscored how Ambedkar’s vision in Article 3 facilitated the establishment of states like Telangana by prioritizing the aspirations of the people over majoritarian politics.
The BRS leader welcomed the recent Supreme Court ruling that clarified the limited role of the Governor, urging the court to similarly expedite action on complaints against MLAs who defected to Congress after winning on BRS tickets.
“The Speaker must determine the fate of these MLAs currently in Revanth Reddy’s camp,” he demanded.
