Pune (Maharashtra), March 24 (NationPress) Political analyst Tehseen Poonawalla asserted on Tuesday that claims of Pakistan acting as a mediator among Iran, Israel, and the United States during the ongoing conflict in West Asia are simply “false information.”

This statement follows reports suggesting that the neighboring country is trying to establish itself as the primary mediator to facilitate peace between these nations.

Poonawalla expressed to IANS, “Is Pakistan really going to mediate in the Iran-Israel conflict? Anyone who has spread such stories is either deluded or financially supported by Pakistan. Such news is completely fabricated and should not be trusted.”

He pointed out that Pakistan itself is dependent on financial aid from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and has significant global stakeholders including the US, China, and Saudi Arabia.

“This conflict is occurring between two of its stakeholders; how could Pakistan possibly mediate? What kind of reasoning is that?” he questioned.

Poonawalla emphasized that only three nations—Qatar, Oman, and India—are capable of mediating in this situation.

Criticizing Pakistan further, he stated, “If you are indeed mediating, why publicize it? Just two years ago, Iran and Pakistan were exchanging missile strikes. During Ramadan, Pakistan was bombing Afghanistan. How can it play a mediator's role in this scenario?”

The analyst firmly reiterated, “Pakistan is not mediating.”

Calling for a resolution to the conflict, he remarked, “Regarding mediation among Iran, Israel, and America, the world is seeking to avoid a war in West Asia. They want the oil crisis to conclude. I believe all nations, including India, should contribute to this effort.”

As the conflict in West Asia escalates into its fourth week, countries worldwide are implementing strict measures to conserve fuel and secure ongoing energy access for their citizens, prompted by disruptions in oil and gas supplies due to the intensifying conflict in the region.

Point of View

It is crucial to critically examine the claims surrounding Pakistan's involvement as a mediator in the West Asia conflict. Tehseen Poonawalla's dismissal of these claims highlights the complexities of international relations and the need for credible mediation from established players.
